Nazi Hunters

We've been discussing the book with our table groups.  Now it's time to branch out and find out what others that are reading this book think.  Take some time to think about a part of the book that would make for a good discussion.  It can be any part from the beginning to the part you read for today.

Tell about the part you read, give your thoughts about it, and invite others to share their thoughts too.

Here are some discussion stems.  Choose one of the following or make a similar type of post.

I want to talk about the part where __________________.  I thought _____________________.  What did you think?

The part that I thought was most interesting so far was _____________________________.  I think _________________________________________.  What did you think?

  1. I want to talk about where they said that Argentina lets Nazi War criminals in their country because they dislike jews. I thought that that is kind of stupid to harbor war criminals because you could get in trouble for it, what do you think? The part that I thought was most interesting so far was when it shows Eichmann's house and how poor he's living. I think it's crazy because he was so high in power and left so poor after the war. What do you think?

    1. I think that they knew the risk, but since Argentina is such a poor country and they need the money. Argentina has a struggling economy. It is pretty weird to see someone that they feared and had so much power to be living in a little shack. It has no windows. It's like he spent all his money getting to Argentina.

    2. I agree with your statement on Argentina being poor, but were they secretly allies with Germany during the war, that could be a reason why they are letting war criminals in.

  2. I want to talk about the part where Eichmann leaves his family. I thought he was selfish for leaving his family. I know they were looking for him but couldn't he have brought his family with him? There is also the chance of him not having enough money for his whole family. What do you think? The part that I thought was the most interesting so far is when they are spying and planning how to catch him. Also when the jeep flipped over it was funny. What do you think?

    1. I think that it is confusing how Eichmann was so poor after being so high in the Nazi Party. I agree that the jeep flipping over was really funny too.

    2. It is really confusing how he lost all of his money. To go to Argentina probably cost a lot of his money.

    3. Yeah but he barely had any money before he left for Argentina, making it very confusing how he got so poor.

  3. I want to talk about the part where they were following the wrong family. I thought it was kind of funny that they were looking for a different person, but the Eichmann's where still living under they're original. What did you think?

The part that I thought was most interesting so far was when they were having the argument with the person. I think it represents the risk the spies have to go through to get the info they need. What did you think?

    1. I agree that it was funny when they were informed that it was the wrong family. And how they didn't notice the people that were named Klement, which looks like Eichmann.
