I thought it was strange Emmets mom let him go to Money after he shrugged her advice off. Would you have listened to your mom or believed her if you were from chicago at that time period?
If I were Emmett, I wouldn't have known that much about racism, and wouldn't have thought that much about it. Also, Emmett's mom didn't give him much warning about racism.
I think that the reason that he did not Liston is because he thought that is would be like Chicago. And Chicago is not as racist as Mississippi. So he just ignored it.
What do you think about the Lamer Smith's murder? Why do you think nobody said anything, or had any information on the murder? Also do you think that it was intentional that he was shot and killed on the court houses front lawn?
I always thought that Emmett's mother had sent him to Money to experience racism and serration. I never thought that he wanted to go to Money to see his uncle and cousins. Did you think that his mom sent him, or did you know that he wanted to go to Money? If you were Emmett, would you have wanted to go to Money, or not?
At that time Emmett did want to go but,I think he didn't think that he knew anything would happen if he did that.If i were Emmett I would have not gone because,of the warnings from his mom.
I don't see how Emmett's Great uncle could stay calm when they came to take Emmett. Why was He so calm, when trying to convince Bryant and Milam to leave Emmett alone
I would be ripping my hair out running around trying not to think about what is going to happen to him, but I am sure He thought if he did that he may end up worse off then Emmett or put him in more danger.
I wanted to talk about how they kept making things up about how you couldn't tell If the body was Emmett. They were saying things like, can't even tell what race it is or like its face is so deformed you can't even tell if it was human.
I wanted to talk about how the men obviously had killed him and Emmett had testifies saying that the men came and took Emmett, but no one believed him. Either that or they were so racist so that it didn't matter on the evidence.
It crazy to think that people would not charge the men even when the evidence was right there. I do not want to think about what would have happened when something worse happened.
I want to talk about in the picture on page 67. They say that that's Emmett Tills body but it looks to old to be him. He was only 14 and in the picture he looks 16 or 17. So really I dont think that's his body.
He was really beat up & torched. This really dis-formed his face & body. This is probably why he looked older (or the picture was taken at a weird angle so he looked older).
People outside of Mississippi used the Emmett Till case against Mississippi. But I don't understand why. Didn't this kind of stuff happen other places to? So why would they use it against Mississippi?
I think it is a little weird that one of the two white men said that they did kidnap Emmett, but did not kill him, and they never got charged for anything saying they were innocent.
It said that nobody want to take the two killers side of the case. But I don't understand why. It also said that Mississippi is racist, and this was an act of racism. So why Would nobody take their side of the story.
I was amazed of how big of an impact Emmett was to the civil rights movement because when Martin Luther King saw what happened to Emmett he decided that something needed to be done and that's what amazed me

ReplyDeleteIf I were Emmett, I wouldn't have known that much about racism, and wouldn't have thought that much about it. Also, Emmett's mom didn't give him much warning about racism.
DeleteI would believe her but then again I would think that she was exaggerating what the racism was really like.
DeleteI think that the reason that he did not Liston is because he thought that is would be like Chicago. And Chicago is not as racist as Mississippi. So he just ignored it.
DeleteHe should have looked up on the Jim Crow Laws in Money, before he went and listened to his mom.
DeleteWhat do you think about the Lamer Smith's murder? Why do you think nobody said anything, or had any information on the murder? Also do you think that it was intentional that he was shot and killed on the court houses front lawn?
ReplyDelete60% of the population is black so if they left most business would be shut down or closed because there wouldn't be much people.
ReplyDeleteI always thought that Emmett's mother had sent him to Money to experience racism and serration. I never thought that he wanted to go to Money to see his uncle and cousins. DeleteI thought it was odd that he was found naked. When he even took the time to put on socks. Did they strip him, or did his clothes just kinda fall off.
ReplyDeleteI thought that was really weird to because, why would they take the time to take his clothes off.
DeleteI don't see how Emmett's Great uncle could stay calm when they came to take Emmett. Why was He so calm, when trying to convince Bryant and Milam to leave Emmett alone
ReplyDeleteI would be ripping my hair out running around trying not to think about what is going to happen to him, but I am sure He thought if he did that he may end up worse off then Emmett or put him in more danger.
DeleteI think that the most interesting part was when Emmett and Milam were having a conversation about the guy who was talking to the girl at the store.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how the keep making excuses like the body was to deformed and decided to tell if it was Emmett or if it was even human.
ReplyDeleteEmmett's uncle even told them that it was him because of the ring on his finger was his father and he had been wearing it.
DeleteI wanted to talk about how they kept making things up about how you couldn't tell If the body was Emmett. They were saying things like, can't even tell what race it is or like its face is so deformed you can't even tell if it was human.
ReplyDeleteThey could only tell by his ring that he was wearing.
DeleteAlso his mom identified his body. I think his mom just kinda knew.
DeleteI think it was weird how they kept on saying that Emmett was missing when they found the ring that belonged to him on the body.
ReplyDeleteBecause they didn't want the people to know it was him so the wont get in trouble.
DeleteBut it was cler that it was him
DeleteI wanted to talk about how the men obviously had killed him and Emmett had testifies saying that the men came and took Emmett, but no one believed him. Either that or they were so racist so that it didn't matter on the evidence.

ReplyDeleteThey also said that he was where in the ring and thats how they identified his body. Because he did not look human after what had happened.
DeleteHe was really beat up & torched. This really dis-formed his face & body. This is probably why he looked older (or the picture was taken at a weird angle so he looked older).
DeletePeople outside of Mississippi used the Emmett Till case against Mississippi. But I don't understand why. Didn't this kind of stuff happen other places to? So why would they use it against Mississippi?
ReplyDeleteProbably because this is the most extreme case of this.
DeleteI think it is a little weird that one of the two white men said that they did kidnap Emmett, but did not kill him, and they never got charged for anything saying they were innocent.
ReplyDeleteI thought that was weird too because if the white men did kidnap him what did he do after they let him go?
DeleteAlso then they should have been locked up because Emmett went missing after that.
DeleteIt said that nobody want to take the two killers side of the case. But I don't understand why. It also said that Mississippi is racist, and this was an act of racism. So why Would nobody take their side of the story.
ReplyDeletethey admitted to kidnapping Emmett so iIdon't under stand why these people are still fighting a war that they clearly lost 150 years ago.

ReplyDeleteIf Emmett was still alive how old would he be? It was pretty cool how big of a movement he had.
