I chose the book about Franklin Delanor Roosevelt because I know that he is the president that served the longest. I want to know what he did to make people want to keep him as president and what he did in all those years.
That is weird. Maybe he didn't think school mattered enough for him to try? Maybe he didn't get along with the others well and it affected his school work?
I chose this book because I know that Roosevelt was different that the other presidents in many ways, but I want to learn more about what made him different.
I am kind of confused on what made Roosevelt be a people person when he was older. I read about him being raised and his parents didn't let him talk to any other kids his age. How did he grow up to be a president if he was raised not to be a very big people person?
He was probably a people person just his parents didn't let him talk to kids his age and where he lived there wasn't very many kids that were his age. But then when he went to Harvard he didn't have his parents with him and there was people his age.
I'm kind of confused about at the end of chapter three where President Wilson just gave FDR the job as assistant secretary of the navy. I don't think it was fair. Did he give him the job just because he supported his campaign?Do you think that is fair for other people?
Why is he scared to tell or show that he has polio. I think that people would be shocked that he is able to be president and that he has overcome such a challenge because he is the president and he has polio.
That's what I was wondering. He didn't want people to see him when he was weak, so he tried to hide it so they wouldn't see him weak and think he could handle presidency. I think he wanted to look like a strong president.
Yeah, I agree. You would think he would want to show it right away because it would be a even bigger surprise for people. What could possibly happen if people knew about his polio. It could also kind of help his presidency. If people knew that he couldn't walk, the odds of him breaking any other bones are slim. I don't think he would be doing very many sports in a wheelchair.
It surprised me back when FDR was governor of New York and the Great Depression was affecting everyone. Hoover didn't do very much as president to try and help people, but Roosevelt knew that the government should be helping out the average man, and the small business owner. So he went on the radio and told people Hoover's way of just giving money to banks won't work. That surprised me, because that's why people liked him.

DeleteHow as he a C student and occastionally a B student I thought after his childhood of studying that he would have all A's and 1 or 2 B's.

DeleteI don't understand how he is 6 foot but is only 145 pounds. My brother is
ReplyDelete5 foot 7 inches, and he is 135. I guess FDR is a stick.

DeleteI don't understand what the Women's Trade Union is. It says the Eleanor Roosevelt is a part of it, but I don't know what it is.
