  1. Part Of Book - The crew onboard the Titanic divided the people aboard the ship into three "classes" based on their Social Status and how rich they were

My Thoughts - I think that they might have done this because it allowed them to know which "class" a specific person was in allowing them to deliver mail and packages and important notices to them in a much more timely manner. They could have also done this because they wanted to seperate the richest , average , and poor classes so that they could make more money by selling the first class tickets.

Question For You - Why do you think that the crew onboard the Titanic seperated the people based on their social status ?

    3. I think that the people on the Titanic we're separated this way based off of how much money they had and where they came from. Majority of the 1st class passengers we're very rich and just came on the Titanic as a luxury cruise. The 2nd class we're average and some came for a nice time well others used it for immigration purposes. The 3rd class was the poorest and most did not speak English and used the Titanic to immigrate to America. A lot of the living standards and amenities we're also dived according to the class of a person on the ship.

    4. Like I said before the workers didn't want kaios . Because the workers knew not everyone would get on a lifeboat. So they tried to prevent pushing, yelling and fighting by making those rules in the few minutes that the passengers had left.

  2. I want to talk about how the men had jump off bacuase there were no boats and the ship was almost sunk i thought that was crazy to jump into that frezing cold water and it was stupid that no guys got to get on the boats if i were a guy id propily pretened to be a girl so i could live

Q:if you were a boy and you couldnt get on a boat what would you have done

    1. I would have still jumped because at least I would still have a chance to survive the water. The only thing that I would be worried about would be sharks or going under the water and accidently getting drove over by one of the life boats. I think tha the men had to jump because the lifeboats had been used to save the women and the children onboard.

    2. If I was a man on the Titanic I probubly would have jumped and realized that I was dead. Faced reality and jumped. I still think it was somewhat unfair that men were basically not allowed on the lifeboats. I think that it was also very brave of the few women that refused to leave the ship that took the fact that they were not going to leave and they would die with everyone else.

  3. Part of Book: Chapters 9&10

My Thoughts: In these chapters of the book it talks about the excitement and fear of getting on the lifeboats. This talks about how there we're not enough lifeboats and how many people died because of this. On one side of the boat it was very strict rule that children and women go first. They wouldn't even allow a man to go at all he would be pushed off from the boat. The other side was a bit less strict. They allowed some men but mostly crew members and people who could help sail the lifeboat. A lot of people died due to the lack of lifeboats which is obviously very unfortunate and sad in this case. Most of these people however we're third class passengers. They had never been to the parts of the ship with the lifeboats and there we're gates or boundaries separating them from getting there.

Question for you: Do you believe it was alright that most of the people that died we're third class? Why or Why not? Does every life matter or should the richest people have gone first?

    1. i think that its wrong they should of servived but then again a lot of the 3rd class pasengers were sick and dieing

    2. No they should not let them drown at the ship. Then later years they will remember that they let people, and children on that ship. THEY Were murderers.

    3. I don't think that it was right because of the living conditions they had were terrible. One reason that it was not alright was that they lived in the bottom deck which I believe would take mor etime to get to if the ship were sinking. I also believe that it wasn't ok because most of the people that escaped were first class passengers because they paid for the best deck and living conditions. Most of the first class suites were next to or very close to the life boats.

    4. I believe if the workers let the citizens from second and third class up to top deck there would be kaios. People would be going crazy fighting, yelling, and pushing. I don't think it should have gone by richest first but they were closest to the top. Class one was already in line ready to go. So it just makes sense for them to get on a lifeboat because they were quick and ready to go.

    5. Question for you: Would you jump off the Titanic to try to survive. Would you stay on the Titanic and make the most of your life in the few minutes you have left. What would you do if you were a passenger who wasn't on a lifeboat comment below.

    6. Jamie, that's a tough question! I think I would jump, but only if a close friend or family member jumped with me. I only have one objection to jumping though, falling debris.

  4. Part of the Book-That a Californian and the Titanic was really alike.the beginning of chapter eight, the of icebergs were seen by the Californian, which was like the titanic.
Thoughts-I was actually surprise that a ship was 15-20
miles from the Titanic and with no passengers with just cargo. So if they were that far away, they could have save the people drowning.

    1. That is why they have to train people for this today but I agree they should at least havea pamflit about it

      Delete
    2. Don't you think they would have to be trained to do that to even work onboard the Titanic? I wonder if they have to be trained now to work on a ship.

      Delete
    3. Part of the Book- When the Titanic sank less, than fifty workers actually knew and were prepared how to work the lifeboats.

Thoughts- This surprised me because it is such a low number of workers who were trained for an event like this. If I knew how many workers were ready and knew what to do for an emergency. I would have never gotten on the Titanic. In other cases the Titanic was not ready to leave. I mean the Titanic only had fourteen days of test running. These stats are crazy.

Q: If you couldn't get on a life boat what would you do to help save the passengers? Help with life boats, calm passengers, or anything else.

      Delete
    4. Wow, that is crazy. How would they not know how to run the lifeboats? They should have had lessons or something because that is uncalled for.

  7. Part of the book:I'd like to talk about would be the sick people on the titanic.
My thoughts:I think that the book showed many kids or people were sick on the boat. Wouldn't it be dangerous to be on the titanic with a desise? I was also wondering about where they put people if they were sick and how would they help them. Did they have an infirmary?
My Question:What do you guys think about this do you think they had an infirmary?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You would think they would have an infirmary, but it is not on the map of the ship.

      Delete
    2. all the people with desies and poor people were 3rd class and they werent allowed to come up from there area

      Delete
    3. Well Ella the Titanic had the worst ship infirmary in that time period and only had fifteen doctors on the boat at one time. The point is is that the Titanic's medical system was the worst in that time period. Most of the people on the ship did not worry about the sick people onboard unless they were in the same social class as them and had to share living quarters with them and risk getting sick. This did not change when the Titanic was sinking because most of the passengers who boarded the lifeboats were first or second class passengers. Most of the peopel who died during the sinking of the Titanic were third class passengers who were left behind.

    4. Yes. I think they did have an infirmary but I don't think it was the greatest. I agree with Jonah, I think that most of them were 3rd class passengers.

  8. Part of the Book: When they said that they needed about 64 lifeboats on the Titanic to save everyone, but they only put about 29 on the Titanic.

My Thoughts: Why would they not put like way more lifeboats on the Titanic? I know it was called "The Unsinkable," but the first time it went out, it sank! If I were the person who chose how many lifeboats go on ships, or just the Titanic, I would have put exactly the amount of lifeboats we could have.

My Question for You: If you were the Captain of the Titanic, would you have put 29 lifeboats on it, or 64 lifeboats? Because just think. If we had put 64 lifeboats on the Titanic, we would have saved so many more people.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I probably would have put a number in between because they did say it was practicly unsinkable so I would think I were safe.

      Delete
    2. I have no idea why they only did that many! I mean, it could've saved so many people... I am glad its safety regulation now.

      Delete
    3. Well if I was in charge of the amount of lifeboats I would obviously put 64 so that no one would die. But, during that time you only we're required to have a certain amount of lifeboats not exactly enough to have to hold all of the people on the ship. But, I think that even if the ship was "unsinkable" they still should have been prepared for it to sink. I think if they had a lot more lifeboats it obviously would have saved so many more so I would definitely put 64 just to make sure that no one died. Even if the ship was, "unsinkable".

      Delete
    4. I agree with you but that is why after the Titanic sank the crew and captain were questioned about this concern. I personally believe that I would have put more than 64 lifeboats on the Titanic because then I could have saved possibly all of the passengers or at least a higher percentage. The captain of the Titanic had also been the captain of one of the other companies ships before that and it sank and he survived to go and sail the Titanic. Most of the first class passengers on the Titanic would only board ships that were sailed by him because they believed that he was the world's best luxury captain during that time in history.

      Delete
    5. If I was the captain YES. I would have probably even tryed to fit more then 64 on the ship. I would want to feel safe for the people and myself. If I was the captain I wouldn't want to be blamed for a silly thing like safety.

  9. Part of Book : Remember at the end of chapter 4 and the beginning of chapter 5 they were talking about icebergs? Apparently they knew icebergs were a threat already, they just didn’t pay attention to the one right ahead of their course. So, overall, the Titanic crew knew that the icebergs were a threat around their course.
My thoughts : So, why in the world did they keep going on the Titanic?! They could’ve saved so many lives, but their ignorance came back and bit them in the behind. So many people died, and it was horrific. I just don’t understand why they didn’t do anything about the iceberg even though they knew about it.
My question : Why didn’t anyone do anything about the iceberg in front of the course of the Titanic?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Well they all thought that the titanic wouldnt sink so none were really worried.

      Delete
    2. The crew was trying to prevent panic on the boat so that more people wouldn't be hurt in the chaos. So when they were told over the radio that there was an iceberg ahead they didn't believe it because they thaught the Titanmic was unsinkable.

      Delete
    3. I agree with you. They should have at least said something about the icebergs so they could be prepared.

  10. Ether they would have thought this was a giant, super floating tank and went and ram it, or that the people driving the Titanic was on a midnight snack of was really, really tired at night.
