  1. Part of Book- Page 65 picture
My thoughts- This picture was a very good thing to include to this book. Especially with what we had just heard. I can also imagine the pain, and agony you would be in if you just found out your son was killed by people. It would be heartbreaking. I feel terrible. She must of felt so much pain.
Question for you- Do you feel sorry for Emmett´s mom?
What are your thoughts about Emmett Tillś death?

    1. I feel bad for Emmett's mother. His mother was just having him go to his uncle's house and then he doesn't come back. It would be awful to have to go threw that.

    2. Sierra, of course I feel bad for Emmett mother. Imagine if you were her, and your son was brutally beaten and murdered.

    3. AbbieS, I do feel bad, but some people just have different opinions and I was curios to see how bad they felt or if her reaction was right. It would be awful, but some people have different thoughts on her over reacting

    4. Abbey F., I understand that she would feel bad, but I was wondering if anyone had a different idea. I really like noticing the different aspects of the book, and stories with different bias sides.

My thoughts: So what I was thinking about was why they actually said the men were innocent because some people had thoughts and had evidence that they were the killers but they still called them innocent!

    1. I agree with Morginne. The court had enough evidence to convict the men. They're guilty and should definitely do some jail time for their crimes.

    2. I also agree but I do think they should go to jail but back in the olden days they would not care and let the white men/women free.

    3. I agree with morginne. They had evidence to say that they are guilty but they don't want to because they are wight.

  3. Part of the book: So far was sort of boring hearing about how they planned what they were gonna do to get Emmit Till and how to get to him.

My thaughts:Did the people who killed Emmit Till follow him home or did they stalk him till they found his home.

Question For You: Do you know the exact time of his death.

  4. Emmett is such a kind and caring person when he liked in chicago. He would always help his neighbor's and also is his family needed money then he would work for it and then gave it to his family. I think that Emmett had an amazing personality and that he was a very helpful kid. Also I would have loved to have meet Emmet he seems like a very kind kid. WHat do you think about Emmet and his behavior.

    1. I think the exact same thing, he was an extremely good boy. I really wonder how much he could have done if he stayed alive, like how he could've helped with black rights, even though he already has...

    2. I agree with Amber. I think he would've done some great things later in life if he wasn't murdered. He could've shared his experiences with racism.

    3. I just can't believe that he got killed the way he did. Because he was such a good kid and he did not know the rules down in money MIssissippi.

  5. Part of the book: Emmett was kidnapped at the time and the white men were beating him. Emmett was getting hurt because he whistled to a white woman.

My thoughts: I think the white men were being a little intense. They couldn't have just whipped him like his uncle said. Instead they were taking things way too far. They could have also done nothing because the situation would have gone away eventually.

My question: What do you think the white men should have done about Emmett?

    1. They could've left him alone. They could've understood that Emmett was a child and didn't understand the consequences of his actions at that point.

    2. THe men were just gonna hurt him and show Emmett who's boss, but then they killed him. After this the killers said they did it to show everyone what the white men are capable of doing. I have one more question, if they did that to show people, and the 17 year old boy didn't find emmett dead, then would the killers tell anyone?

  6. Part of book: When The two white men kidnapped Till at the house he was staying at.
My Thoughts: Why didn't Emmett Till's family question what Bryant and Milam were trying to do? I think his family should have probably fought back or something and try to keep him at the house.

    1. I think if his uncle would've tried to ask, then he would've been shot on the spot... tehe... that rhymes

    2. I would also like to know more information on that, I tried doing that question for confusion and curiosity. i couldn find any solid information for an answer. They all had a bias or said I think.

    3. I think they were scared they were going to get hurt. If I was them I would've spoken up because it was my family. I think that if the family could go back they would have done something different.

  7. my thoughts: Emmett was a good kid and always wanted to help out with whatever he could. He had good friends and a nice personality. His family really tried to help him stay out of trouble.
My question for you: What do you think Emmett could've done with the black rights?

    3. I have though what Emmett would have done if he wouldn have been killed. WHat today he would have changed and how he could´ve changed things. I think that he would´ve ended it earlier than it ended. I still wonder what his thoughts would be today if we could still talk to him. Such an amazing person he was!

    4. I agree. I believe he also could have been a big part of the rights for African Americans. He barely ever missed behaved and was over all a good kid.

  8. I so agree with megan because they have not really learned that people are the same not separated by color.

  9. Honestly if I was an African American I would hate it. Because of how whites used to treat them it would be horrible! So I also agree because I personally would not want to go to school because of how they would treat me.

  10. Part of the Book: Page 110 with Emmett's Mother

My thought on this picture is if my son just died and I found out that the men who killed her were called to be not guilty, I would not want any men to be around me. I would want to be alone and try to find evidence for to get the men in trouble.
What would you do if you were Emmett's Mother?

    1. I would start stating my beliefs. I would want everyone to know that they should've gone to jail. It probably would've hurt me that the judge still thinks that it's okay for an African American to be murdered.

    2. I think I would do the same thing. Because like if no one was doing anything I would just do it myself and get the men in trouble.

    3. Yes, because many people kind of just crowded her and were being rude and some were asking her about what she thought.

      Delete
    4. I do not know what I would have done. It would have gone by so fast. I would not know what to do with myself! I would be lost without someone I love. It would be terrible. I couldn imagine the pain!

  11. I would feel the same as Morginne...

  12. Part of book: Page 67 with Emmett Till's body.

My thoughts. I thought it was a good primary source because then it showed us what those 2 men could do to Emmett and it showed what they did to Emmett.

What would you do if you were one of the men that we're thinking about killing Emmett because of his mistake?
