  1. Part of the Book: In the book, there is a part where it talks about poisoning the patients with ten grains of the poisonous Mexican root. I don't know why they would do that because that is making the patient less likely to live.
My Thoughts: I think that the topic I am talking about is a pretty good topic because it is kinda confusing and really hard to understand why they would do that. I also think it is very dangerous and I would not like someone having me take that because I would be too scared to die.
My Question: If you were in a situation to eat the root or not, what would you do?

    1. You make a good point, but if they didn't do any of the treatments you would eventually die. It's best if they do the treatments, and see if they work rather then not try anything and let you die. If the treatment didn't work then they wouldn't do it again. If it did they would try it on other people.

    2. If I were in that situation it would be hard to tell if I would eat the root or not. At the time, it made the person feel better, but later on they would most likely feel worse, or they could just keep suffering from the fever. All in all, I think I would rather not eat the root and just carry on from what the fever is going to do.

  2. I want to discuss how they thought that the treatment was helping them get over the disease. Even if they feel better for a few hours it doesn't mean that the fever is officially gone. They felt even worse a few hours or days after the treatment and then they died. Why did they keep giving people the treatment if they were only feeling better for a little bit then feeling horrible after a while, then eventually dieing?

    1. I think they kept giving people the treatment because they didn't care how they felt after, but they just wanted to feel better at the time, instead of suffering from the affects of the fever.

    2. I think the same thing as you. I wish that they would have known that it didn't work so that the patients would get better. To try to answer your question, I think they did that because maybe they thought that it is worse in the beginning and then it gets better towards the end.

  3. During the time of the plague, people were beginning to move away from the city. Even if the person had a successful life, or business, they would leave. I honestly think you should leave, even though you have a successful job, or business because you still have a whole lifetime ahead of you, and why would you waste it by staying in a dying city? My question to you is, if you had a successful job, or not, would you decide to leave the city?

    1. Yes I would leave the city because then I could start over my life and maybe have an even better job. I also think that I would move because I might die during that time when I could be starting over in an even better place then where I was.

    2. What if they moved away and they had the fever and didn't know it. I think that even if they had symptoms of the yellow fever they should stay behind, because if they move then they could pass it on to all the people in a different city and it would become even more of a problem.
