May 5-6, 2014
Your assignment was to read the beginning of Wonder, right up to the point where he starts his first day of school. What do you want to discuss? Is it a character? An event? A big question that you kept asking yourself?
Choose something from this section to discuss. Describe it in a good amount of details so that everyone knows what you're talking about. This way they will know how to reply to your thought.
Once you've finished that, reply to other's comments.
We will do this discussion in class on May 6th. However, if you want to post your item for discussion today, do that. I won't publish them until the 6th, but that way you can fill it out while the thoughts are fresh in your mind.
When August went to his new school for a tour three kids were there to show him around, one Jack was nice to him Charlotte was very nice to him too but Julian was mean to him he asked rude questions like " Whats wrong with your face. I mean whats his problem doesn't he know how to be kind. I thought he was a jerk.

DeleteThe thing that I wanted to talk about is that when the kid was showing him around the school and he was like "What's wrong with your face?" like thats really mean to say to someone.. I think the kid that said it is the type of kid thats different around other kids than when hes in front of teachers.

DeleteWhen August's mom told him about when he was born, and the farting nurse. Umm that part (I know it's normal) was really weird at first and then it kind of changed the farting nurse was there the whole time the mom was having August.

DeleteI don't get what's wrong with August's face. The book keep saying people would stare at him & talk about him but it never says whats wrong with is face.It it his eye? I'm kinda guessing it's his eye because the cover shows one eye but im not sure.

DeleteWhen i was reading the part where Julian asked August "Hey what's wrong with your face?" I thought that was rude and when i read that my mouth was open. I like Jack for giving August some advice. Charlotte was also pretty nice. Julian was 2 faced.

DeleteI thought that when he went to school that he was kinda afraid and when they tock him to the theatur I think that is when he freked out because they were talking about the peopel then they said you can be in a play with out being in a play like working the lites or panting the back drop.

DeleteSo the topic I wanted to talk about is when August went to his new school and met the principal and the principal looked at his face and he didnt say anything bad he just shook is hand so i think the principal really likes August.:)

DeleteI wanted to talk about how august didn't like when people felt pity for him. This reminds me of The Fault in our stars. I have this connection because the main character has cancer and she hats it when people have pity presents for her. Overall, He doesn't like when people give him certain looks and treat him different just because of his face.

DeleteI wonder what happened to his face. I mean, he says it's worse than what we can think of. Julian thought it looked so bad that he was in a fire, so it's pretty bad. I just kind of want to know if it's a disease, or...?

DeleteWhat I wanna talk about is how sad it is to know, or see someone with a Cleft Palate. A Cleft Palate is when your lip kinda grows up to your nose, like your lip is connected to your lip, and that's what I think Aggie has. The book mentions he has a Cleft Palate. ReplyDeleteThe thing that I want to talk about is when he went to the school to check it out. I liked how they were nice to him and stuff but Julian was a JERK!!! He asked a question like whats wrong with your face? It's like WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU???!!!!! HOW WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF SOMEONE ASKED YOU THE SAME THING, AND YOU FELT LIKE HE DOES ABOUT HIMSELF?!?!?!?!?!?

DeleteI think that August is a very forgiving person. He wanted to go to school even after Julian was rude to him like that. I think Charlotte and Jack would be good friends, though.
ReplyDeleteWhen August went for a school tour and three kid were there to show August around the school and how he was scared to meet new people but when he got to meet them he was not scared but he think jack and charlotte is nice but julian is rude
ReplyDeleteOn the day of his birth i was really surprised on how his mother was being pushed down by the nurse AKA the farting nurse i was like "what the heck what kinda nurse is she".When the mother first saw August i was very very happy. But then doctor said that august was sick, very sick. That really really brought me down.
