Earlier this week, we started looking at primary sources. Today, we will continue by looking at some primary sources surrounding John Wilkes Booth. First we will read his diary, then we'll read the letter he sent to the newspaper.

DeleteI think John Wilkes Booth went a little psychopathic because he killed the president in a town full of soldiers, then ran off to another state. The biggest problem with this is that where he stayed, they could have easily told the Calvary that he was there.

I think this because in his diary it said that in the pocket there was five pictures of his "loved" girlfriends or wives. I mean really that's mean.

First of all just because you don't like someone doesn't mean you kill them if i killed my sister because i don't like her that would be ridiculous, i just get over it and stay away so I don't cause a fight. So he really shouldn't have done that he could've just dealt with it and moved on.

That was one of the questions i had trough the entire book, What would you do if you kidnapped the president. I came up with so many solutions. Like put him in a cellar in your basment, or make him your servent. Show no mercy to him, make him do what you want him to do, really i honestly don't know what i would do with the president if i were to kidnap him.

DeleteI think that Booth just couldn't stand that slavery was being banned from the U.S. So maybe he thought that trying to kill the president would stop that from happening. give him fame in the South & also give the South hope for winning the war

DeleteI think John Wilkes Booth was a little psycho because after he killed the president he ran off. But the problem really was that he really needed to think about where he stayed because they could have really found him in those spots that day. (The packet was a little wordy.)

DeleteI thought John Wilkes Booth had a mental illness because he just couldn't wait for other people's reactions on the terrible news, and he knew that everyone would go and freak out. I do believe that he was a terrible person, because If I didn't like the president then i would either move or wait until his presidency ids over with!!! HE IS A PHYSCOPATH!!!! I don't mean that anyone with an illness is Physco but he IS!!!!!!!

The worst part is that he thought "Oh Hey" Its not that bad. Maybe people will be happy about me killing our president! If he thought people we going to worship him he was soooo wrong! ReplyDeleteI think that John Wilkes Booth was a horrible person. Also, he has poor judgment. He thought he was a hero, because he kill the president! As he could read in the newspapers, no one in the north were happy obviously, but also most of the people that helped him didn't seem to happy. Most people don't want to house a man who just killed the president. It was bad enough that Booth had to kill Lincoln, but he also had to sign his friends up for it. Atzerold got in trouble even when he didn't kill anyone like he was supposed to.Not to mention how racist Booth was. As you can see, Booth was a horrible person.

And hes blaming God for that who does that really. When i was reading his diary i thought that hes was going to talk about what feelings did he have when he killed the president but then hes was talking about how God made him this way.

ReplyDeleteI think he was mentally ill. Like, If he hated someone enough to kill him, he must have major anger issues. I also think he was a player because of all his girlfriends and stuff. Another thing is that he thought he was a hero! Uhm.. NO! SO many people hated him after he killed the president, there was probably only like 50 people MAX that was happy. And, he knew he was going to get caught or die! Meaning he's dead or in jail, he wouldn't be able to live through the ''Freedom'' He thought he would have if Lincoln died anyway! There's so many things about him that don't make sense
