  1. Part of Book : Trenches

My thoughts : I think that the trenches might have been so big and complex so that if they were being shot at by artillery they would have a lot of space for the enmy to have to shoot at in order to have a successful artillery strike
Question : Why do you think that the trenches were so big and complex

    1. That is just what they thought would work. And what they learned problary. So that is how they would do it.

    2. I think that they did that because it can confuse the enemy and make it harder to attack their troops.

    3. I agree with you on trapping the enemy and confusing them. They also could be if a larger animal got in to keep the soldiers safe.

  2. Part of Book: When they kept attacking and attacking.

My thoughts: They just kept going they way they wanted to even though it was deadly. They could have stopped and went around way to stop worst things from happening. They didn't though so it was bad! They killed thousands of people.

My Question: Why do you think they did that?

    1. Emma i believe they did this because they were trying to be offensive. All the sides believed that it was better to die charging into the front lines than to die from an artillery shell in their trenches while doing nothing.

    2. I think they did that because they had no other way to go or they were running from something. They also could have thought they were going to over power them

    3. Yeah I see what you are saying. They thought they were being smart but they actually weren't.

    4. I think they did that because they had no way around it, or their commander made them do it. They also might have done that because they didn't want to die themselves.

  3. Part of Book: Chapter 7 Trenches

My Thoughts: I think that the trenches were a bad thing because of all of the disease, rats, lice, floods, stench, artillery fire, shell shock, and dead bodies everywhere.

Question: Do you think that the trenches saved a lot of lives and were better than post World War One fighting tactics, or do you think that it's not worth it to be in these conditions?

    1. Think of it this way would you rather die not being a soldier in your hometown while being helpless ? Or take the chance and fight for your country on the front lines where you might actually have a chance of saving it ?

    2. I think that it isn't worth it because it didn't help as much as how bad it is. It did help them a little but not that much.

  4. Part of book: when the people had mice and rats falling on them while they're sleeping.
My thoughts: I wanted to know of people would freak out if they had a rat land on their face. I also ret that they would stab them did they play games.
My question would you be able to deal with rats falling on you

    1. I think that rats falling on me are fine, kind of like an alarm. On the other hand, being underground in really bad conditions with rats falling on me, I couldn't stand that.
