  1. Hilde is very brave to take children and hide them in christan homes.

She is super brave to do that and super smart because she out-smarted nazis and made them run.

What if she was caught when she was delivering the children to the people?

    1. In the book her leader said that she would have severe consequences or possibly face death.

    2. If she was caught she would have bad consequences. She would have been punished by getting killed. The children would probably get taken as well since they were going to get taken anyways.

  2. Part of Book: In chapter four when Hilde, for the first time, helped a child escape.

My Thoughts:I think it was really brave of Hilde to help children escape at night. As soon as her leader asked, she was basically already preparing for that night.

Question: I wonder what she was feeling while helping each and every child that she helped escape?

    1. I think she might of felt scared and proud at the same time because she was saving a child's life.

    2. Hilde probably felt nervous and scared. In a situation like this I would feel nervous and scared too. This was very risk so she knew she had to be careful. She probably felt anxious too.

    2. I agree that it was very risky, especially when you look at your neighbors tricking jews. Plus if they were caught the consequence would probably be there life.

    3. Yes I think so too. If she would have gotten caught then she would have been killed along with the Jewish men. She was really close to getting caught. I think it's weird that the people in the story all took big risks, and were most likely expecting to die and they actually lived. It's a big story they can pass for generations.

  4. Part of Book: Letting the Jewish Nurses enter without saying anything and doing nothing.
My thoughts: At the place where all the children were they let the nurses enter with no problem. They were Jews. If they didn't like Jews then they wouldn't care if it was a nurse, doctor, scientist, lawyer, or businessman, would they? If they really did hate Jews they would have killed them and not let them come. That's why it doesn't make sense that they let them enter with no problem, or without saying anything.
Question:Why did they treat the nurses with respect, even though they were Jews?

    1. I think that because they were there to help with the children having them there would make everything easier. Even though they were jews, I think at one point they expected that the nazis would come knocking on their door saying you're off to a work camp. Which eventually they did.

    2. I think its because they where keeping the children quiet so the enemy would not know where they are keeping jews so they can not set them free or because they needed the jews to be quiet so they could listen for enemy's. I just think it was very amazing for what Hilde did she could of got caught or killed. She is super brave just like all the other characters in the other stories that we have read so far. These people are truly hero's and they desevre the kind of treatment that they are getting they are true hero's.
