  1. Part: When Eric gets in trouble for having a camera
My thoughts: I think they don't want people to have camera's because they don't want other people to get involved, or like they think they are doing something wrong and they don't need other people to tell them what to do.
Question: why do you think they can't have cameras?

    1. I think they didn't want them to have camera's because if navy seals are training to be in combat they don't want anybody to give any information on what they are going to do or what their plan is if something happens... Or if they have to do their job basically...

    2. I think they can't have cameras because the army may think eric is going to take the pictures he took and give them to a bad person

  2. Part of Book: The different people in the army at Zaire, and what they can do "good".
My Thoughts: On this page (pg. 106), I learned that they are practically judging the people in the Army camp on what they can do "good"! For example, they were pointing out people and saying stuff like "he is very good at making fires and cooking", or "he works good with the soldiers). It's almost like they don't have names, just characteristics.
Question: Do they actually have names, or do they just call them by their good qualities?

  3. Part of the Book: When Eric is in Zaire

My Thoughts: The Living conditions in Zaire are very bad. At Least people come through to change the bandages of the people on the street. When Eric comes across the Mano Amiga Place I started to think things are going to start getting better.

My Question: When is Eric going to become a Navy SEAL and start serving.

    2. I agree with Olivia. I don't know yet either, but it has to be in the book because that is what the whole book is about.

  4. Part Of Book:When Eric Was In Training For Boxing And When He Was Boxing.
My Thoughts:I thought that it was worth the money for how much he worked and trained. Also I think that it was cool how he beat up that professional guy!
Question: Would You Put The Time, Money, And Effort to do that?

    1. I would put the time, money, and effort to do that if I really wanted to learn how to box like Eric wanted to.

    2. Yes, because you can build up your strength and you can earn money to help with like getting food or something important.

    3. It depends. If I REALLY liked boxing, which I don't, I would probably do it. But if I really didn't like it, then I wouldn't do it.

    4. Yes, That price is so cheap and your not practicing with someone that knows nothing about boxing. Time is the most important thing, you need to be able to get the move down. But yes I would.

  5. Part: When he tried his hardest to fight and win the trophy.
My thoughts: I think that it's kind of ridiculous that he is mad that he didn't get the trophy when he could be happy that he tried.
Question: Be honest, how would you react when you didn't get the trophy?

    1. I would honestly be kinda happy if I got a trophy because I would just think that I got a trophy for trying... But then again I can see why he did get mad because he probably didn't want other people to think he basically just got a participation trophy...

    2. I was happy he got it...

    3. I think that is would not be happy if I had went through with all this training and then did not get to fight.

    4. I would be happy. It would suck that I didn't get one but I got to try. And it was a bigger fight.

  6. Part Of the Book: When Earl was talking about some of the men he trained for boxing...
My thoughts: I thought that it would've been hard for earl to talk about because most of the stories were good then he had one about the first guy he trained named beaver. Beaver basically used boxing for violence on the streets and he got shot because of it...
Question: Wouldn't Earl be kinda scared to go on and train other men because this happened?

  7. Well, I agree, but then maybe he wouldn't want to. This is what he does, so he was probably used to it.
