  1. In 1964 a lady named Darlene Lewis experienced a tragic event. A boy of color got beat up by the police, because someone accused him of stealing fruit. When Darlene’s uncle questioned what had happened, he got beat up too. His eyes were smashed and he was in the street for hours until he got medical attention.

Segregation is the separation of housing, education, and other services for people of color. The separation typically isn’t equal.

According to the Vox reporter Alvin Chang, “On the surface, this is an argument about how we measure school segregation trends. But ultimately, it’s a disagreement over how we should be thinking about school segregation.”

Some people would think school segregation is getting worse because when they see the data that Alvin Chang has, they see that students of color are less likely to attend a school that is majority white than 50 years ago.

But, some people look at the data and see something different. They see that more people of color live in the United States now that 40 to 50 years ago.

Segregation in the past was in many places. Such as neighborhoods, schools, and public places. But, segregation today is seen more in schools, rather than public places and neighborhoods.

The NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) is a civil rights group that is trying to find and end to segregation. On their official website it says, “The vision of the National Associtaion for the Advancement of Colored People is to ensure all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on race.” The NAACP does many things to help segregation and civil rights, but the main thing they do is protest.

Segregation was a big problem in our world and it still is. There is no main solution to this problem. Everyone has their opinion on segregation and that is why it’s hard for it to come to an end.

  2. Fish and many other arctic animals like caribou and reindeer are in grave danger and being affected by climate change. They are stressed out and unable to repopulate. This has been happening for many years and their population is dwindling at a very fast pace.

According to Bill Nye we are on our final stand against climate change. He says we need to take action. Greta Thunberg said “The eyes of all future generations are upon you, and if you choose to fail us, we will never forgive you.” Bill Nye also says that if we don’t take action soon we could lose millions of animals of fish. If we lose fish over one billion people will lose their number one source of protein.

Most Indian scientists, however, believe that it is too late to stop climate change. They think we’ve been on a destructive path for far too long. They think people wouldn’t be able to adapt to new ways that easily.

If you believe it’s not too late then there are many ways you can help. Some of the best ways are energy-wise. Such as wind energy, solar energy, or green energy. They have become much more cost-effective in recent years. Another way you can help is by planting some trees. One tree can make a large impact and go a long way. A third and last way you can help is by taking public transport if you live in the city. This will limit CO2 emissions by a lot.

If we don’t change we could always go the planet just like Earth over 1 million light years away.

  3. Las vegas Nevada, country music concert Stephen Paddok unleashed a hail of gunfire from his hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay. The shooting went on for a full 10 minutes by the time the gun fire ended 58 people were dead and more than 58 people were wounded.

“The Las vegas mascare, Pulse nightclub in Orlando, The movie theater shooting in Aura, Colo, The Virginia Tech slaughter, The massacre at the texas first baptist church all have one thing in common, Semi Automatic weapons that allowed the shooter to fire into crowds without reloading. Stated the Washington Post. Many U.S citizens say that more gun laws need to be enforced, but many people also say that making more gun laws will do nothing to end violent behavior.

“High capacity magazines were used in at leat 50% of the 62 mass shootings between 1982 and 2012” Said a mother from procon.org. Liberals argue that legal restrictions on gun ownership could save lives. Conservatives say that tougher gun laws would do nothing to change the behavior of violent criminals. Three in 10 American adults say that they personally own a gun, nearly two thirds of them (66%) say that they own more than one gun. 73% of them say they can’t see themselves not owning a gun.

“On average there are about 13,000 deaths in the United States resulting from gun violence each year seventeen of those deaths were people I attended School with. People I passed in the halls everyday.” Stated Carly Novell Parkland Florida Highschool student. “Something needs to be done to get semi-automatic guns out of the hands of civilians.” She added. Banning high capacity magazines to decrease the number of fatalities a shooter could inflict in a single attack is very likely to help put an end to mass shootings. Enforcing more gun laws like Background checks before being able to purchase a gun could also be a big help to end mass shootings and gun violence.

Each year in the United states more than 100,000 people are shot and more than a third of them die. More people need to speak up. Something needs to be done to end this.

  4. Climate change is bad but greenhouse gasses play a big part in it all. Tomas Carbonell , a member of EDF’s climate and air legal and regulatory team is working to help prevent greenhouse gasses from going up.

Since 1990, there's been an increase of 43% in the warming effects on the climate. The world meteorological organization says “ The increasing in co2 was just above average” and is countlessly growing at a fast rate. There are several ways scientists know that more than 90% of climate change is caused by emissions of heat-trapping gases. At least 93% of the warming that scientists caused by humans. “ Humans are causing most of the warming” said Princeton University climate scientist Micheal Oppenheimer. None of the natural effects could have possibly produced the warming.
About a quarter of carbon emissions are absorbed by the seas , and a similar amount by land trees. Doubling levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide substantially greater than 5K. Increase in greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere should have produced a large global mean. Scientists predict a future global mean warming of 0.3K per decade for greenhouse gases alone. 0.2K per decade with sulphate aerosol forcing included. People think that after greenhouse gases sulphate aerosols will probably exert.
Fluctuations in atmospheric pressure can heavily influence how much natural gas leaks from wells. The unintentional leakage of natural gas from oil and gas wells into the surrounding subsurface. “ currently, subsurface gas migration is monitored using infrequent or short-term location-restrictive measurement” said Olenka Forde, a geological sciences PHD student at UBC and lead author of the study published in scientific reports. Variations in atmospheric pressure tent to compress of expand soil.

Future climate evolution needs to be taken into account when planning climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies. By minimizing driving and setting concrete reductions goals plus walking, Biking, Carpooling and using public transit as much as possible. You can reduce , Reuse, and Recycle even little things such as turning off the light when ur done can do a lot. “ We have a single mission to protect and hand on the plant to the next generation, “ said Francois Hollando president of France.
At the end of the day , we may agree or disagree if greenhouse gases is real or a hoax , but we both can agree there is energy or having more trees with cleaner air and environment.

  5. There has been dozens of high-profile mass shootings in recent decades. Shootings, lead to an increase of firearm bills.

In an interview with Angelia Sanders, she said “ the impact of mass shootings depends on the party in power.” It's not the gun, it's the person Angelina says. According to Domestic Violence, guns are also used in 75% of deaths. Survivors of gun violence say that they are looking for something to change. Payne, who runs a non-profit,says “ we gotta get a fire ignited.” The people who are killed, came from nearly imaginable race. Safety is needed to prevent accidental deaths. “If people don't get help, they’ll find another way to do it,'' Angelina says. About 51% of all suicides involve a gun. There is a 41% increase overall. Mass shootings results in an average of 112 firearm deaths each year (2009-2018), compared to 34,538 deaths from all types of gun violence each year (2009-2017). The current survey found that more than three-quarters of adults (79%) in the U.S. say they experience stress as a result of the possibility of a mass shooting. “ Attacks aren't just increasing, they’re getting deadlier.”

Some ways to fix mass shootings is to strengthen gun laws or cut down on violence in the media. They should keep gun regulations the same or relax them.

What do you think the world would be like without mass shootings? How would it affect you? Why? Do you think mass shootings is a good thing or a bad thing? Why?

  6. On August 28, 1963 Martin Luther King Jr. gave a moving speech known as the “ I have a dream speech “ that opened people’s eyes to equal rights and his vision of nobody being discriminated by skin color.

This speech was made during the civil rights movement from 1950 to 1960 where african americans fought and marched for civil rights, freedom and public view by whites as people and not as slaves. It all started when slavery was abolished after the civil war making all slaves free with the 13th amendment while the south was being reconstruted into the union. After the abolition of slavery african americans were still being treated like property and not people. This got worse with the addition of the Jim Crow laws where a african american can’t enter a facility where a white person is. Fortunately, this law was only placed in the south and never brought up to northern U.S. The government still made these laws and mistreated african americans. People at the time were mad that people that they used to own were free and had as many rights as them. This made racism and mistreatment of african americans at the time worse. These events led to the civil rights movement where african americans would stand up and show they are people and deserve the same rights as anybody else. The first ever march made for the civil rights movement was the March on Manhattan where nearly 10,000 people came on July 28, 1917. It wouldn’t be until 50 years later on the March on Washington where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his speech about his dream. It was the march they allowed freedom of any job and freedom of the people. Martin Luther King Jr. described what he saw in his dream as what the United States should look like if people weren’t racist. He said “ I had a dream that a black boy and a white boy could one day hold hands and play together” without being discriminated. Another dream he had was “ I have a dream that my four children wouldn’t be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character”. This opened everyone's eyes and showed that african americans have the same rights as anybody else and are people not property. This was the turning point that people needed to have equal rights and not be discriminated by others.

That testimony reinforces the idea that people of other races have the same rights as anybody else. According to specialists by the names of Juliana Mensace Horowitz, Anna Brown and Kianna Cox, racism is still a problem in the U.S. but it has improved since its abolition and the civil rights movement over 150 years ago. People of today are more accepting of people from other races and do not discriminate them unlike pre civil rights movement where everyone still treated african americans like property and discriminated against them. People of today stand up for other people being discriminated compared to pre civil rights movement where nobody cared enough to help. People today take pride in being in anti-racism groups unlike before where it was one race against another for freedom and their public view.

Racism isn't what it used to be and it seems Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream is becoming true but still not complete. People are finally understanding the dream.

  7. Greta Thunberg is named Time’s 2019 person of the year, according to Safie Samee Ali and Elizabeth Chuck. “Greta is a 16 year old teenager who quickly blossomed into one of the worlds most notable Climate change Activist.” She was first noticed when she began protesting alone outside the Swedish Parliament during school hours on Fridays when she was 15, because of her act, millions of people in 150 countries have begun to stand with her. Greta’s mission is to get people involved with what’s happening around the world, she said, “I don’t want you to listen to me. I want you to listen to the scientists, and I want you to unite behind the science.

Climate Change continues to grow, becoming an even bigger problem. Many activists have talked about the effects of Climate Change, but none of them have made as much of an impact as Greta Thunberg has. Greta has spoken in front of many people and has inspired thousands of people to make a difference, she gave a speech about the ocean and how it’s affected by GreenHouse Gases.

Temperatures have risen twice in our Polar regions, “The temperature has risen 12% above the average,” says Will Steffon a reporter from CNN. The amount of Arctic Sea ICe has melted so quickly, that the region may see ice-free summers by the 2030’s, this could affect the lives of many animals that live in the arctic regions.

One reason the ice has been melting is from an alarming rate in the rise of ocean heat, the ocean has risen 30% above the average temperature, this has happened because of Global Warming. Global Warming is the continuing rise in heat around the world, the average temperature of the Earth is rising at nearly twice the rate it was 50 years ago. “The only way to explain the pattern of Global Warming, is to include the effect of Greenhouse Gases emitted by humans,” Scientists explained.

  8. In Minnesota, a police officer shot and killed a man of color in his car during a traffic stop. White police and women do not face any consequences for ending people of color lives, most of the time.

Being unarmed and shot by police is about 3.5 times the probity of being white. Evidence from “Policing in black and white” shows 100 shootings in major police departments, no racial difference. But did you know men of color are 4 times more likely to be stoped during a traffic stop than white men? In Falcon Heights, Minnesota where a worker named Philando Castile was shot by a white officer in July. He was being pulled over for a broken headlight. It is hard to expose officers because of the new “Blue Wall Of Silence”. The Blue Wall Of Silence is referred to as an unofficial oath of silence within departments. In the U.S African Americans are 2,5 times more likely to be killed by white people. For Women of color, the rate is 1,4 tie more likely. That can be very scary for people. Did you know roughly 1 to 1000 children and adults will be killed by police in their lifetime? The violent crime rates and the racial demographics of a give location are better indicators for determining a police killing victim race.

People like you could fix the world we live in today. People like you could find an organization and join it to help stop innocent people from dying. Because the way people treat each other isn’t right. But you, you could make a difference.

Racism is a big problem, people take advantage of everything and everyone. Police definitely don’t help the problem by making it worse. Some people think cops aren’t racist, but others think different. So many people have different opinions, about cops and racism so it can be very hard to stop it. But you, you could make a difference.

  9. Virginia Tech student killed 30 people because he was sick of rich brat’s and sick of being bullied.

The most deadly shooting happened on February 14th in 2018 killing 17 people and wounding 14 others. The suspect 19 year old Nickolaz Cruz was reported shooting his B.B gun at the neighbors cat. Another red flag to the community was Cruz made a youtube channel and posted “I'm going to be a professional school shooter”. Some people think Cruz action were motivated by the death of his mother “ lynda Cruz’’. In an interview with Elizabeth chuck, Alex Johnson and quirky siemaszko Brandon Minoff said ‘ that he wasn’t surprised when he heard cruz was the shooter, earlier that week Minoff reported cruz telling him that he was held back twice, expelled from 2 private schools, he also said Cruz told him how he likes to do reckless things like shoot his gun around the house. Cruz got access to the gun because it’s legal for someone who is 19 to buy an assault style gun or even a rife.but illegal to buy a handgun.

In 2012 President Obama tried to banned assault style rifles and extended magazines. He also tried to make background checks more universal and clear, but he was denied later that year

One thing people are doing is donating to CDC research facility. Some other things that we can do is start doing universal background checks and checking people's health to see if there stable enough to own a gun.

The problem with gun control will always be up and even more with mass shootings what would you do if you had the power.
