  1. What happened that October 10 would forever change the course of Bartels Middle School English class. It was a normal day. All was well until Mr. Reuth, the School’s Principal, threw a letter of horror into the teachers shocked arms.

Apparently it read, that banned and challenged books were no more. The students went into a roar as the teacher collected every single book from every single student. The teacher still in shock, thought of how they could even recover the lesson plans. The students on the other hand, went on strike. They made protest signs to bring back the books.

The classroom, no more a peaceful learning place, instead was full of confusion, anger, and sadness. The students almost ready to march to the school board and make things right. It was revealed to them that it was all a ruse. The students had been had. The books returned, never even truly needed to be taken. But surely they were ready if the event ever did happen.

  2. It was a normal Tuesday afternoon, when this crazy dog went running down highway Fifty One in Portage. This dog was a brownish red boxer. He had a greenish collar on. The collar looked like one of the crossing guard vests. The dog was running down the middle of the road. All the cars had to pull over so they didn’t hit the dog. The people that work at the pound were chasing after the dog. They didn’t catch up to the dog until if got all the way down by Wal-Mart. When they got to it the dog put up a huge fight. It was wiggling and jumping around. The people finally got the dog into the harness and took it away. The family of the dog went and got it later that day.

  3. October 10th was the worst day of my life. It all started in the ELA room, 126, when Mr. Rueth walked in. Our ELA teacher, Ms. DeVries, was really confused when he walked in. That moment will haunt this classroom forever.
It all started out with a letter from the school board. Us classmates were really confused, and we were really eager to find out what it was about. Before I could think of what to do next, Ms. DeVries started to read the letter. I think I’m part deaf now.
“ The school board said that we aren’t allowed to read anymore banned books!” The classroom went into a total riot. We were all arguing about this decision that was made.
About 10 minutes later, Mr. Rueth came back in with all of banned books! I could not believe that awful trick they pulled on us! Ms. DeVries said she was glad that if this ever did happen she’d be so happy that we reacted this way. Hopefully, this will never happen. EVER.

  4. There was a family at a pumpkin patch during the middle of summer. It was a nice year about 2013. A family was just going to here a good time. They got carmel apples, popcorn, and soda. They did the maze and other activities. They were having a good time. Bt then it came to the main event the pumpkin patch. They all went out on a tractor to pick out a pumpkin. The youngest boy of the group went out to find the smallest one he could find. Then he saw something out of the corner of his eye. A wallet filled with money. He showed his mom and he dicieded to donate to a church. He bought everyone king size candy bars and donated the rest of the money to the church.

  5. In Wisconsin Dells, the streets are finally dying down as summer comes to a halt. The streets are calming down and people are no longer filling the streets. Each year hundreds of people come and go. The Dells has many different attractions like the duks, MANY water parks and natural attractions. These are all huge in the summer but not so in the winter. This makes WI Dells a ghost town in the winter and only the people that live there roam the streets. This is great because now people can get around much faster. Though the Dells is fun in the summer, It is calm and peaceful in the winter.

  6. When a local sports store on Champs,Elysses street recently opened a sports car rental spot outside of their store people were shocked. Why? To promote both lamborghini and ferrari business and to bring more people to there store to boost income. Many people think this is a great business opportunity for both companies to take. Them also being next to luxury store louis vuitton might bring even more people to this attraction stunt.

  7. The Book Ban

It’s 7th hour on October 10, 2019. The students were all in their desk in english class for a lesson. Ms. DeVries there english teacher was just getting done with talking about a banned book “Skippy John Jones.” Ms. DeVries was telling her students “ we are going to be reading this book, and see if we can find why it might be banned or challenged.” Then suddenly out of nowhere the students principal Mr. Rueth came walking through the door.
Mr. Rueth was holding a very important looking piece of paper in his hands, and a furious look on his face. Mr. Rueth says to Ms. DeVries “Im sorry but all banned books are to be removed from all classroom libraries immediately.” Mr. Rueth then left without saying a word. The students were all extremely angry at Mr. Rueth and the school board.
Ms. DeVries then went around the room picking up all the books that we are reading, they were all banned. The students then didn’t have anything they wanted to read anymore. All of their favorite books were gone! All of the students went crazy! They were saying “ But I love my book.” or “ I only have 5 pages before I'm done.”
Ms DeVries then says with a soft voice “ Im sorry guys, but I think I may have a plan for the school board to change their minds.” Then Ms. DeVries just laughed and laughed. The students were looking at her like she was crazy! Ms. DeVries then changed the slide it said “ Im sorry guys, don’t hate me too much.” Then the students realized it was all a joke! All of them were furious.
Ms. Devries eventually passed back the books. The rest of the hour the students were silent. You could see all of the mini ideas turning inside their heads, about how to get back at Ms. DeVries.

  8. It was October 10, 2019 when the bartels middle school volleyball team won all 4 games. Not only A team won all 4 but so did B team. The B team was so proud, they only missed 2 serves and that is usually what one person misses! They realized that they only had 3 remaining games, they were so disappointed, it was such a great season they didn’t want to end. They played Poynette, Deforest, and Beaver Dam, they beat all three! They unfortunately only lost one game, but it was only one game out of the entire season. This actually lost them the title “undefeated.” They always cheered people on and were supportive, they will never forget the year they had.

  11. Early in July Last summer a Portage, WI family went on a vacation to South Dakota. They decided to go all across South Dakota to visit lots of famous places. On the 15th of July the family stopped at Badlands National State park, the rocky landforms were amazing!
Katie, the mom, had her camera the whole time taking pictures of her exhausted children who forgot to bring water. After about 2 hours of walking around on top of the sandy rocks Katie and her kids decided to get going. Todd their moms boyfriend had already left for the vehicle. Landon who was the oldest of the children was walking off the path kicking rocks that were laying around. He picked up a small jagged rock and asked his mom “Can I take this for memories?” Bailie and Lily, the youngest of the family were walking near him and gave each other an unsure look and their mom sighed and said, “I am not sure you are allowed but you can if you want to.” Without anybody starting arguments about whether he shouldn’t take it or should, Landon took the rock and they finished making their way to the truck. As Landon and Bailie ran over to the truck where Todd was waiting, Lily and their mom went over to the hiking rules sign, it said: “Leave fossils, flowers, rocks, and animals where you found them.” Lily and her mom looked at each other and then their mom took a picture of the sign to show landon. Once they got into the truck, their mom showed Landon the sign and he just shrugged and said it would be fine, so then everybody decided to just not to worry about it. But before they left Todd had to get a soda for the road. He walked to the back of the truck and lifted the trunk window, which was old and wasn’t supposed to be opened. But Todd opened it anyways and grabbed a soda from the cooler. As he slammed the window shut, Landon, Lily, Bailie, and their mom heard a loud snap! They turned around to see that Todd was holding the left half of the window with his free hand, Their mom quickly went to help, they figured out that when he closed it the left hinge that held the window up had snapped off. “Can you guys find a rope or something that we can hold this together, please.” Their mom yelled, Lily looked down at a pair of shoes that Bailie wasn’t wearing, and said “Can we use Bailie’s shoelace to tie the thing together?” Her mom quickly nodded and Lily helped her and Todd tie the shoelace through the hole the hinge was in and the top of the truck. Once they finally started to leave Landon looked at his rock and said, “Do you think that was bad luck for taking the rock?” They all started to think that that was true so the next place they were able to stop, Landon got out and placed the rock on the ground with all the other rocks. Luckily for the rest of the family vacation nothing else bad happened and they managed to survive with a shoelace to hold up the back window.
