Part of Book: When they say that going to school isn't even worth it. That working for the family and money is more important than school.
ReplyDeleteMy Thoughts: If feel so bad because school should be the most important but since that their is no money they kind of have to skip school.
Question: Do you think their parents felt bad for them to that they had to skip school?
No because then they got free labor form there kids.
DeleteYes, because if you have no education or some you couldn't really have a job to make money.
DeleteI don't know how they felt, but I feel bad for the parents too because if I was a parent, I'd feel so bad. It would lower my self esteem a lot to be fired from my job along with many other people, but then to see my children suffer would be the worst part.
DeleteI want to know how many people lived in Hoovervills at the time. Also how did people take care of their kids if they had no money to by food and things like that.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they made their own little farmed to actually grow food and save more money.
DeleteThey probably got at least one of their daily meals for a breadline I would think if they had no other money.
DeleteThey probably had very small portions and weren't allowed to eat many things. They probably only had 1 piece of bread that they grew themselves.
DeletePart of Book:In this part of the book showed women and girls at the ages of 6 and above.
ReplyDeleteMy Thoughts:I think that this makes sense, because the family wanted more money to buy food, water, house, and, etc.
Question:What would you do to Educate your children if they worked most of the day.
They could figure it out themselvs.
DeleteIf I was in that position, I guess that I'd educate them myself. I mean, if I was educated as a kid, then maybe I could teach them something if that was the worse case.
DeleteIf they took breaks in the field, I would find a stick and teach them the letters and like how to write their name or simple math problems.
DeletePart of book: Two kids taking a bath together in a small bin (Page 17)
ReplyDeleteMy Thoughts: It was just really super sad because ONE kid wouldn't even fit into that small space- let alone TWO. The picture made me more thankful that I just have to bathe in a small metal bucket with my sibling. I was a little grossed out just looking at the picture and I felt really bad for the kids.
Questions: How would you feel if you were one of those kids?
I would feel thankful for the tub, even though it was small. I would feel bad too because having my family live like this would make me depressed. I would also feel bad because i knew the whole that the whole country was struggling and it would just make me sad/depressed.
DeleteI would feel bad because I have to take a bath with someone else and i would probably be mad because we wouldent have money to by things for me.
