  1. Have you ever felt the emotions that a character has in a book?Well that's on purpose usually and in the “Twilight Saga” written by Stephanie Meyers she uses emotions to tell the story. The “Twilight saga” is about this teenage girl named Isabella Swan but everyone calls her Bella that moved to this small town called Forks, Washington and she is living with her dad now and is trying to get used to the small town thing. Then there they were, the Cullen family, they were un-humanly beautiful but the one that caught Bella’s eyes the most was Edward Cullens. Bella finds out a secret about the Cullen family and falls in love with Edward and lets just say her best friend Jacob Black did not approve. Stephanie Meyers shows everyone's emotions to tell the story but mostly Bella’s,Edward’s, and Jacob’s.
Stephanie Meyers wrote the “Twilight saga” in Bella’s perspective mostly. Bella is very confused throughout the entire series and she doesn’t know what to do and the reader feels that confusing. Bella doesn’t know what to do with both Edward and Jacob because she loves both of them, she loves Edward like the love of her life and loves Jacob as a brother. Jacob is a werewolf and werewolves and vampires are natural enemies. So when Edward left in the beginning of the series she was so sad she was emotionless and the readers felt empty when reading that part of the series but in a delightful way.
Just because the series is in Bella’s perspective Stephanie still told us how Edward was feeling. Most of the time she didn’t straight up say it but the reader can still feel is emotions even when Bella couldn’t tell what Edward was feeling. Stephanie showed Edwards feelings mostly through how he talked, And what I mean is what he said and how much he said especially to Bella. Edward treats Bella like she is this fragile thing which she is because through most of the series she is a human and a human and vampire fight, a vampire will always win. Edward tones will change with how he is feeling and sometimes if he is mad he clenches his teeth.
Jacob is another character out of many that help tell the story with his emotion, even though it isn’t his perspective. Jacob is younger than Bella but acts like he is older (and looks older) because he wants to protect her from anything, especially vampires. Jacob gets agree really easily (well most of the werewolves do) and he tries to stay un-wolfed around Bella and he hates that she is in love with a vampire. Stephanie shows his pain and he makes his emotions more noticeable then Edward but Jacob knows if Edwardis there he will know what he is thinking anyways considering Edward can read minds. Jacob loves Bella very much and it shows and it adds more to the story.
What would you do if you cared for two men in two different ways and they both cared about you but they were naturally supposed to be enemies? Adding emotion to the story will add more and show things that it doesn’t say and they don’t necessarily have to even say what the emotion is, they can show it in many different ways. Just remember emotion is everywhere and emotion is important no matter what emotion it is.

  2. Everyone wants to have something in their life even if it is a pet or a loved one. We all want to care about something that gives us hope and love. Especially when the government is horrible and wants to take everything for you. The book legend by Marie Lu, there is a girl named June and a boy named Day. June was raised in the republic (rich) and she is very smart for her own age. Her parents were killed in a car accident and her brother was killed by trying to catch a boy. Day was raised in the poor sector he faked his own death to protect his family however he is a really smart thief and tries to get food, clothes etc for his family however he was framed for something he did not do. In Legend, there are two perspectives: June's perspective and Day’s so you can know about both of their lives.Everyone wants to have something in their life even if it is a pet or a love one. In Legend, there are two perspectives: June's perspective and Day’s so you can know about both of their lives. Day loves his family so much they are all he has left so after he faked his death he would visit them almost everyday from afar. When he found out that his brother got the plague he went to the hospital and tried to find the cure for his little brother he couldn't find it. However he got some medicine for him. He had to go down a very large building and almost lost his life from it but he didn't care because he loved his family so much that he wanted to protect them. That is how he got framed from June's brother's death because he threw a knife at her brother however he did not kill himThe government made June believe that Day killed June's brother which was not correct. However she did not know that at the time she was so hurt that she took the job her mentor gave her to track down Day and to put him in prison. Day was framed for something he did not do however Day did not know that at the time also. June dressed up like the people in the poor sector and she pretended that she was from there then she saw kitz fight and she went there then she saw day however she didn't realize it. When she found out the government lied to her about her parents death and her brother's death she started to trust no one she wasn't safe with anyone June had to go to the patriots to try and free Day out of prison before his execution. When she found out he was innocent she wanted to break him out of jail. That is why she needed to be careful because if she does one step off the government would catch on to what she was doing so she needed to be careful and so she did so she did it successfully. Adding days perspective allows to show his love for his family. Which was the theme for the book.. The author used both Junes and Days perspective so you can have a clear image on both of their lives. Each character has an example of why family love is very important. June showed us how family's death can impact a person's life. She also showed us to forgive others and try to get the full story. Day showed us that family comes first than anything else and that you should always protect your family. If Marie Lu only had chosen a single perspective then we wouldn't get the full story on both sides and we would be very confused.

  3. Everyone in life needs to make their life better, Especially when you are poor or homeless. In “Ball Don’t Lie” Sticky is a 16yr old boy who lives in a foster home and has no money, But he can play basketball really well and can definitely go to the Nba. That is also his dream to play in the Nba. In “Ball Don’t Lie” Matt De La Pena uses Sticky to show you that you can follow your dreams.
The setting is in California in a small city where there are alot of poor people and homeless people.Sticky is the main character and he lives in a foster home.Sticky is 16 years old and he doesn’t talk alot but he loves to play basketball, So he goes down to the local rec center and plays basketball with a bunch of older guys in their early 20s and late 20s. A couple of them are Dante, Dallas, and other people.Sticky is much younger than these guys but that just shows how could his basketball skills are.Sticky has been adopted twice before but one was by an old woman so when she died he got taken back to the foster home and the second time the people just didn’t want him so they took him back. Sticky has a girlfriend named Ahn Thu and she supports him but he is much poorer than her so he has to steal to get her gifts and to get new clothes he steals from stores.
There is a lot of dialogue in the story from Sticky being at the rec center to the foster house, and just wherever he goes. The author makes the claim true with all of sticky’s dialogue. When he is talking to Ahn Thu he tells her that the only way for him to get out of the foster home is to go big in basketball and make it to the nba. When Sticky is at the rec center he plays 2 on 2 and usually wins because he is so good at basketball. When Sticky is in the state championship dialogue really comes into play because his coach told him to drive the ball and try to make it but if not then pass it out. Therefore dialogue really came into play because if sticky wouldn’t have known what to do and he may have not been able to make the final play.
Sticky uses inner thinking a lot throughout the story, there are many circumstances where sticky thinks to himself. One Sticky was at one of his “old mans” places from when he got adopted and he spilled his weed on the carpet, therefore the old man was very mad and sticky was thinking in his head that he needed to get out of that place.Another circumstance is when he was in the store when Ahn Thu was there and she was talking to other boys, Sticky was thinking to himself that he thought she liked him but after listening for awhile she said that Sticky was her boyfriend. The last big part where sticky used inner thinking is when he is at the foster home and he does not want to go with a family that wants to adopt him, he thinks in his head that if they really want to take him he will throw a fit to stay.
In “Ball Don’t Lie” Matt De La Pena uses setting, dialogue, and inner thinking to show how sticky is going to chase his dreams to become a professional basketball player. If Matt De La Pena didn’t use Sticky’s perspective the whole time then we would’ve missed out on how Sticky made it to the Nba and many other things during the book.

What do you think are some important parts in the book that you’re reading that make it more enjoyable and understandable? In my story The Girl Behind The Smile, description and 1st person narrator make it the best it can be. With lots of description everything is really explained and said how it should be said. Everything can be taken as it should be because the person telling the story is who went through it.

1st person narrator helps really get all the details and what the story is about because they know everything and nothing can get switched up or not taken as seriously. Since the person telling the story is who went through it, they know exactly what needs to be said for it to be taken how they want it to be. They know everything that happened and how it made them feel, so they can express everything that goes into what they dealt with. They will be able to explain the big parts that were more difficult, easier and scarier. They’re the person who experienced it so they know what had to be done or some other things that could have been done to help their situation, so that makes it easier for them to explain the things that people could do to help their situation similar to the authors. When a story isn’t 1st person narrator many times parts of it can get switched up or taken very differently than the original person wants. When someone else is telling a story that isn’t directly from them when it’s about a very important and detailed topic it is easy for them to get some of the ideas mixed up and taken differently. When talking about a certain topic and wanting there to be a certain lesson learned or lesson taken away from the story, it’s important for the story to be 1st person narrator so people know exactly what is going on and all the important parts that go into the topic for them to be able to understand the story exactly how it should be understood.

Description is also a very important part to certain kinds of stories. When a story is being told about a topic that is important and not always understood well by people it is important to have lots of description so the story can be understood as well as it can be. When there is lots of detail and description it is more likely to be taken how the author wants it to be and easier to comprehend correctly. If you’re writing a story or telling a story about something you have went through that can be a very sensitive and complicated topic but you’re wanting to share more about it and bring awareness to it, it's important to be able to have lots of description about it so you can really get your points across and explained good. If somebody is trying to educate themselves or just want to know more about how other people are dealing with certain things, they are going to want and sort of need lots of description and explanation to really be able to understand what they need to understand to get the topic. If the person reading the story is dealing with something similar or knows somebody who is dealing with something similar, having all the description of the author's story and how they dealt with it can be helpful for them or the other person in many ways.

There are so many different parts to writing that can make a story so much more interesting and understandable depending on the topic of it. All stories are different and need different things to make it the best it can be. In my story, having a 1st person narrator and lots of description was super helpful for the topic of it.

  5. Authors can be interesting, they can be nice and form a happy story with a happy ending or a sad one. They can add tension or take it away, they can even ruin a story, whether intentional or not. The point is, they can do whatever they please, and it’s up to them to take the story in the correct direction, but they also want to entertain you. And they have little techniques they use on the reader that usually work very well. Most if not all authors have some type of technique, J.K. Rowling is one of them. The Chamber of Secrets has a few techniques in it, here they are.
Claim number one would be that the author was repeatedly trying to trick the reader. First off, there are many moments where the main character(s) are having a really happy moment, but then something horrible happens to ruin it, this happens quite a bit. An example of one of these moments is when the main characters are happy and laughing but then abruptly find a cat frozen and strung onto a wall. They are then blamed for this when everyone else enters the room after them.
This next claim isn’t a claim so much as a statement, but it is that she always gives the characters help. In all of the books they need help actually. Which isn’t surprising, in almost every book the protagonist(s) need help at least once. However, while they need help often she doesn’t make them helpless and constantly in need of help.
Lastly there is the POVs, or point of view. A lot of books with more than one main character typically give the reader more than one point of view. When the author does technically give another point of view, It’s still through the main character’s eyes. She(the author) always finds some clever way for it to be through the characters eyes.
And those are just three techniques the author uses, there is a lot of stuff that could be discussed about what she uses to keep readers invested. Keep searching and you may find her other techniques they are easy enough to find if you really try. She uses her techniques very well. That is why she and her series are so successful.

  6. In this story, Jen Wang, the author, shows pictures to explain how the prince felt about himself, and how this one person stuck with him all the way on his journey. The story explains how in the end it doesn’t matter what you are or what you identify as because the reader is human and deserves love just like anyone else deserves love. When the prince hired the dressmaker he felt happy, but he couldn’t tell his parents, because he was scared to get kicked out of the Kingdom. The dressmaker helped him keep his secret but because she couldn’t meet the one person who inspired her to make dresses, instead she ran away and hid. Eventually, his parents found out about the prince dressing as a girl, he ran away in fear of what his parents would do or say. He ended up coming back to the kingdom to watch the dressmaker’s fashion show. The queen burst into tears when she saw her son. She hugged him saying how much she had missed him, however, the king stood there not knowing what to say to his son. The king ended up accepting his son and helped with the fashion show, the prince and the king wore dresses down the aisle. The crowd of people around the show was shocked, to say the least. The prince came back to the kingdom and everyone was happy. Jen Wang used this story to explain that it is okay to question your gender, and it is okay to wear clothes that society claims are for the other gender. The prince in this story is gender-fluid and can not decide whether he wants to be a girl or a boy, so he chooses to be both. The author shows the audience that it is okay to be different from others, and not let society dictate what the reader should or shouldn’t be. The pictures in this story help explain gender-fluidity in an easier way for the reader to understand.
