On the old one the sound was going out and her dad wanted a new tv. But when she got home she didn't even notice the tv until she looked up at it because her dad was playing video games and she loved to watch him play. The girl was like “ holy crap when did we get a new tv?”
the dad said “ i got it at 3:00 pm “then she said “ how long have did it take to put up the tv up?” her dad said “ about ten minutes “ she said “ wow that's not long at all.” Than ten minutes later the 8th grade girl was playing video games it was called forza 2 a racing game that she loved to play. She played that till 7:00 pm because then her and her family sat down and watched the voice. The voice is a singing show they watch every monday and tuesday. 4. The football game that changes it all. On tuesday at 6:30 pm in Reedsburg WI, there was an outstanding football game, that started out being rainy and muddy but ended up being the best football game portage has ever had. Portage won 14 to 8 and it was well deserved by portage.

It was a fight the whole way thru, but portage ended up winning, both teams are very good and it could of went either way. Both portage and reedsburg had a good season, portage won 4 and lost 3. The field was the worst both teams had ever and played in.

After the game both teams jerseys and pants and shoes and socks were very muddy. It is still unknown if everyone's equipment came clean.

  5. On Sunday October, 14th at 12:00 everyone who is in the Portage Marching Band got all of the buses loaded up with 250 students and some parents. Instruments went into the trailer. It took an hour and 45 minutes to get to Whitewater College Campus.

On the way there the students stopped for lunch at the largest Culverś. The lines got so long that they went back to the doors. We only had 30 minutes to eat, so you had to get your food and eat fast.

After eating we got to the campus. Where the students went to get changed, and the parents put together the props. Once the students were on the playing field, they knew it was their last show. One of the sensors even cried after the show.

After the parents put all of the props on the field they went to go sit on the bleachers until the show starts. They did really good for their last show. When the show was over with everyone walked back to get changed. They sat on the bleachers for the rest of the night, until the awards came, which started at 11:15. They ended up getting 4th place. WhichMr. Shaver did think that they would get.

They left at around midnight from Whitewater College Campus, going back to Portage.

Eventually they started to play the game, black team went first they started out great then they ended with a loss around 5:00 then the orange team was soon to begin so they had to warm up to with passing and serving then the game began and the orange team started off great and ending with a win but overall both teams played great.

The date of the Broiler Festival is on July 21 through the 22. It is at the Endeavor Lions Park. The events of at the Broilerfest, there was softball, trator pull, chicken dinner, the bike parade, and more events. Kids can play at the park, jump on the bouncy house, and kids trator pull that has to weigh less than 100 pounds. There was a snack bar open while you are watching the softball game.
The club who runs it is the Endeavor Lions. My parents, siblings, me, and other people who were in the Endeavor Lions helped in the snack bar and the bike parade. Me and my siblings had fun with the kids tractor pull, play in the boucey house, I watched the tractor pull, and a little bit of Bingo that was always at the Fire Station in Endeavor.

There was a tunnel under the road to get from on side of the pumpkin patch to the other, there was also a huge corn maze, the corn maze was very muddy and they all got their shoes ruined.

There were a huge amount of pumpkins there along with horses and pigs and a bunch of food there was caramel apples, icecream, cotton candy, all very good things.

When the 13 year old girl and her family where about to leave they got their car stuck in mud because everything was super muddy and two men had to push them out of mud. Have you ever been stuck in mud?

  10. On the day of the 6th grades last game, Portage’s 6th grade rival came to play. Many people came to watch. The game was at 9:00 am on a Saturday morning. Portage is playing against Verona. There was this 13 year old girl watching her brother play.
She was hanging out with Emily,Lacy,Rhylyne, and she was also watching Kenlee and Coltin. Everyone that was watching came early to the tailgate with breakfast foods.
The 13 year old girl and her friends said that the food was amazing.
One of the parents said, “this food is super good”. After the tailgate everyone started walking into the bleachers to watch the game.
The 13 year old said, “hello”, to her grandparents watching the game. The football has started. Everyone is amazed by how the 6th graders are doing.
One of the parents said, “the boys are doing outstanding”. It was the fourth quarter and portage was winning 14-6.
One parent said, “ I hope Verona doesn’t score another touchdown or else the game could be tied.”. Portage had the ball on Veronas 40 yard line and then they fumble it, Verona recovers the fumble.
One of the coaches looked scared because if Verona gets a touchdown and makes the field-goal the game would be tied. Verona has the ball on the 10 yard line and gets a touchdown. The clock ran out. If Verona makes the field-goal the game is tied if they miss the field-goal Portage wins the game.
The 13 year old girl said, “this is one of the most terrifying times of her life”. Verona snaps the ball the punter kicks the ball they miss Portage wins the game! Portage 6th grade was now undefeated two years in a row (14-0).

  11. Fortnite try-hard

A 13 year old was playing Fortnite yesterday and they were playing playground : random fill, and everyone playing started killing the kid. The more times the kid got killed, the more he cried, and yelled into the microphone/headset. That 13 year old tried to ignore it, and they continued to play as usual. About 10 minutes later, he said “can you guys please stop killing me?” , and the others said back “ stop complaining, it’s just a game. You’re getting killed just as much as everyone else is” . The kid would not stop crying over something so little, and not important.

The game ended about 15 minutes later and even though he was still freaking out, he still played the game with the same people that kept killing him.

After the third game, he quit in the middle of the game because he was crying too much, which made all of the players laugh. It was pretty funny because of how long he stayed in game with everyone else. It’s funny how many kids play fortnite, especially 8-9 year olds. Less mature children complain or freak out more than mature teens, so you can tell easily if they’re older or younger.

It sounded like they could get away with anything at home, so if they were to not get away with something, or if something doesn’t go their way, they freak out of through a fit about it. The things they said when they were crying pretty much proved it.

The kid rambled on and on about how mad he was and that other players “promised” not to kill him anymore, which finally made the kid happy. They all went to Tilted Towers and had some fun together until one of the guys whispered something. They all teamed up on the kid and started killing him. The kid starting raging, really bad.

Probably about 30 minutes into the game and he was already crying again. He totally rage quit for the second time in the past 2 ½ hours. He wasn’t able to get back into the game because everyone reported him from playing for a few days. To this very day, that 13 year old still finds crabby 8-9 year olds on fortnite. Always being a try-hard.

  12. Fortnite Scrims
Have you ever heard of a Fortnite scrim? If not don’t worry because this is the latest scrim tournament. You play 7 games in a squad with your one partner against a team of two, you are going against the other team i your lobby. The point system is one point for each kill and 5 points for each person alive during a win.

For the past 2 weeks Tycen M, CJ C, Kyan R, and David W have been organizing a scrim tournament. It all started with those four playing against each other then they invited 6 other people to come and play. Tycen and David were losing the first 6 games but then they added a controversial rule. They added that you get 5 points for each person alive in a win, without this they would’ve lost.

They invited Jamie P/ Jaden C (Team) Kenny G/ Mitchell F (Team) Caleb D/ Ian K( Team) and Nathan C/ Joe(Team) 2 weeks ago they had their first official scrim wit everybody involved. Jamie P and Jaden C played Tycen M and David W and lost 25-26. There was also a bit of a scandal in this. Brady C and Ian K played for Jaden and Jamie. Here is Jamie P on the topic. “If I could change it, I would. They said that they would play for us because they wanted Tycen and David to lose. I wanted to play, but Jaden was all for it.” All of them have been kicked out of the league.

Ian and Caleb were expected to destroy Nate and Joe but the opposite of that happened. Caleb D said “We would land some place low-key, but there was always a full squad going to the place that would get the gun first.” The score was 7-3 a very low scoring scrim.

CJ and Kyan played Kenny and Mitchell, they blew them out by 10 points 18-8. Mitchell and Kenny hadn’t been playing all weekend but CJ and Kyan played a lot.

This may have been the last official scrim because of the cheating by Jamie and Jaden. A lot of the people had lots of fun playing this.

  13. Football
Today we will be talking about the football game. It was the portage warriors vs the reedsburg beavers. One of the kids said. ¨The game was amazing but it was cold, wet and muddy, with 2 inches of standing water on the field¨.
It was one of the best games he had ever played in, but on a tackle the kid heard a big crack! ¨I could hear it all the way across the field¨ said one of his teammates.
A big lineman fell and landed on a kid. He went to the hospital and they told him he has a crack on his growth plate. He went back on monday and confirmed that he needs a cast, this happened around 6:30pm on tuesday the 13th. This was one of the best games portage middle school program has ever seen.

  15. The Date:
    By: Kai S.

On Monday October 15th, a local girl prepared to go on her first date. After school she went to Baraboo, and Wisconsin Dells with her date.

They had dinner at a fancy Italian restaurant, where the girl proceeded to have a Mac n’ Cheese pizza. He took her shoe shopping, and then shortly after they came home.

Once home, the new boyfriend introduced himself to the family. Everyone, except the little brother was happy to meet him. At the end of the night all the family liked the new boyfriend, and the girl went to bed happy, and excited for her next date.

The next day Tuesday October 16th, they went on a date to John Muir Lake. They walked around the lake, and returned at around 8 p.m.

However, two days ago Monday, October 22nd they were supposed to go to a haunted house. By time they had gotten there it was closed. They instead went to 5 Guys, and picked up the boyfriend’s little brother.

They returned very late, around 9-10 p.m. The family was upset because it was a school night. They have not gone on a date since

  16. Hannah, Laney Dill’s mom, just bought a house and it doesn't look so great. There are walls, floors, and ceilings that need the plaster and lath to be broken off. Most of the walls, floors, and ceilings have been taken down but in the mud room the tile needs to come off the floor, the kitchen needs 3 walls taken down, and the bathroom needs all the tile out of it.

Brian, Hannah’s husband, has been putting wires through the house for electricity. He has put outlets around the house and has made new boards for the drywall to be on. Brian has taken out most of the nails from the lath so that they can put drywall in. Brian also is having troubles on how to get the cabinets from the kitchen out without breaking them.

Hannah said she wants to keep them because they look nice but they don't actually look that nice. They are all stained, broken, and worn down. Brian is going to find a way to get the cabinets down without breaking them though.

“This is going to be a lot of work but I know we can get it done” Hannah said. They have taken the vines down that were covering all the windows outside of the house and they have cleaned up most of the lath and plaster inside the house. The upstairs still needs cleaned up because there is a lot of wood shavings, plaster, and lath still on the ground. The basement still has tons of plaster and lath everywhere because they haven't even began cleaning that up.

They still need to get drywall and insulation inside the house. The barns still look bad and they are going to fix those when they get a bit more money. They still need to put flooring inside the house in multiple rooms because they flooring is either torn, stained, or does not match the house at all.

So, they still need to do a lot of work still to make their new house feel like home. It’s going to take a lot of time and effort but they can do it. They just need a little bit more work done and then they can start moving in.

  17. What is Overwinter?

He wasn't dead. He barely moved but he was still alive. That’s because he is a Ambystoma laterale, a Blue-Spotted Mole Salamander living through the freezing cold of the North.

With the start of October in Wisconsin it will normally bring the first freeze or at least colder weather.

Mammals, such as bears will go into hibernation knowing that they stored enough fat for the winter. Flowers will either wither to the ground or be brought inside. The bright orange and red trees will turn bare. Snow is coming.

While amphibians such as a salamander (Amphibian meaning an animal who spends life in both water and on land.) doesn’t hide from the cold in a den, they do go into overwinter. They live through the winter by slowing their metabolism and using fat preserves since their main source of food is buried deep in the ground. Mole salamanders will either find a nice place that doesn't freeze or dig a burrow.

That is what happened on the twelfth of october for Houdini, a common amphibian who was found in a newly built house. The first night in captivity, this little amphibian spend his time in a small tank used for frogs only to crawl up the sides, fall off the table, and head towards the heat vents. He was named houdini after the great escape artist.

Even though the tempatuatue of his 5 by 2 feet cage is always the same as the house, around 60-70 degrees fahrenheit. This amphibian went into overwinter, strictly because his instinct told him too.

He will be active again in late spring, mating season. The only time the sex of these Ambystoma laterale’s can be determined.

  18. Fall time is here and In Wisconsin a favorite fall time activity that people love to do is, going through corn mazes. Wisconsin's largest corn maze is 18 acres and is located in Poynette.

Some things that you can do there is go through the 18 acre corn maze thats theme is When Pigs Fly. There is also a little corn maze for the little kids and the theme is spookley the square pumpkin. They also have these really cool swings and slides that are made of spare materials. Also some things that they made out of the spare materials were human foosball and out of huge pvc pipe they made things that people can roll in and have races. They have places you can get food and they have a gift shop. Another thing that people love to do is visit the petting zoo.

The corn maze has 10 places throughout the corn maze that have a hole punch. They give you a little card with trivia questions. When you get the the place you have to answer the trivia question and the one that is right will have the correct direction to go. So if you get the wrong answer you will end up going the wrong way.

There was a 13 year old girl with her friend and her friends mom that went there on Sunday, October 14th. They all immediately fell in love with the animals at the petting zoo but their favorite animals there were the three little goats. After they visited the petting zoo they did the corn maze. It took them a total of an hour and 3 minutes to complete it. They got lost a couple of times and they had to turn around and back track and find the correct way. But they finally got out.

After the corn maze they all got something to eat because it was very cold and they were all hungry. But while waiting for their food to be done the two friends decided they wanted to go on the huge slides and the pipes and race. They had a fun time and a good day.

  19. It was 11:00pm, a girl was lying in her bed about to fall asleep, when her phone starts vibrating and making a loud beeping noise. She looks over to her phone to see an Emergency Alert that read, Tornado Warning in this area until 12, Take shelter now. She thinks it’s not that big of a deal because most likely nothing will happen, but just as a precaution she goes to tell someone. So she scrambled out of her bed and heads to her sisters room.

The girl asks her sister if she got the same warning, she said no so the girl hands her phone to her sister and is nervously waiting because she doesn’t know what to do or how to react. The sister hands the girls phone back and had a wowed look on her face.

The girl says, “What should I do, I’m scared.” The sister replies with a careless tone, “I don’t know, go tell mom or something.”

“I don’t want to, can you,” she asked nervously because she didn’t want to interrupt their parents sleep. “No,” she replies with. The girl finally gives in and goes to tell her mom.

She quietly opens the door, peering in. She walks silently over to her moms side of the bed and tells her there is a tornado warning. Her mom replies with an exasperated sigh. The girl takes it as she is annoyed and that is exactly why she didn’t want to tell her, so she apologizes, walking quietly out of her parents room.

At that point everyone was out of their room, in the living room. Her and her sister had grabbed blankets to comfort themselves and they sat down on the couch watching the weather channel.

Half an hour had passed, the two girls and their parents going from the porch looking at the sky to the living room checking for updates about the tornado. Another fifteen to thirteen minutes passed and all they saw was lightning and no thunder. In between that time her dad had went to bed because he had work in the morning, and he didn’t care about the tornado. For the last time they check the news and it says the tornado just passed portage. The warning and the waiting was all for nothing, but the reality of a possible tornado never set in.

The girl had always been terrified of tornadoes but she had always secretly wanted one to happen or see one, so the fact that there wasn’t a tornado was very underwhelming to her.

  20. Christian Yelich has had an amazing 2018 season with the brewers. Yelich has batted .326 with 36 home runs and 110 RbI 2 home runs and 3 RBI away from the triple crown. Yelich also had another gold glove year with a .985 fielding percentage and 22 sbases in the 30, 20 club. Christian also hit for the cycle two times this season. Christian Yelich is 26 years old and came from the Miami MArlins at the beginning of the season. Yelich has a lot to say about Milwaukee and his teammates. Hopefully, everybody enjoys it. It’s kind of an insight into this team, this clubhouse, what we’ve experienced throughout the year, and what we’re looking forward to here.”We may not always be the most talented team on paper but you’ll never outhustle us or compete harder than we do,” . “That’s basically our whole mindset now. It’s part of the Brewers’ culture.”“It was like a Brewers legends trip, and I was somehow lucky enough to be invited.” “I’ve never seen anything like this town when it comes to people being nice… It’s pretty ridiculous how nice people are in Milwaukee. It’s like you’re a member of everyone’s family or something.”Yelich ended his speech by challenging Brewers fans to make it “LOUDER” than normal this weekend in pushing the team to the finish line.“We need you,” he said about the fans “LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOO!” “I just wanted everybody to be fired up and excited about what this team’s going through,” Yelich said before the series finale against St. Louis, with a playoff spot on the line.“I just wanted everybody to be fired up and excited about what this team’s going through,” Yelich said before the series finale against St. Louis, with a playoff spot on the line.“I wanted everybody to feel a part of it. Like I said in the article, we feel like an extension, we represent the city of Milwaukee and state of Wisconsin and all Brewers fans. I’m not saying they weren’t already fired up. But, hopefully, it’s an exciting atmosphere and there’s a lot of good memories to be made, not only for us but the fans as well.” Yelich's templates and manager also think very highly of him. Brewers manager Craig Counsell said, "It was just so well-written I love this guy's attitude and how he plays, you can never tell if he is 4-4 with two home runs or 0-3 with three strikeouts he is always smiling and happy.” The race for MVP wads very close between baez with yelich with a better average but baez had more home runs and RBI but then yelich caught fire in the month of september when his average went up a ton hit 12 home runs and had just over 40 RBI’s, causing Yelich to practically run away with the award, also having a 1000 ops. All in all Christian Yelich Is an amazing player and an amazing person and should come away with the 2018 NL MVP. The brewers fell short to the Dodgers in the seventh game in the NLCS with a 5-1 loss which ended Yelich's fantastic season on October 20,2018 at roughly 9:30 10:00. Yelich will be the first brewer since Ryan Braun to win the MVP and it will be something he will remember for the rest if his life.

  21. D.J. goes under center and says his cadence. Ready, Set, Go, Go. Everyone on the field starts moving and does their job. Linemen block, Fullback stays in the backfield for extra protection.

On October 9th, 2018, at Reedsburg middle school, the the Reedsburg Beavers and Portage Warriors 8th grade football teams are ready to play some football. But there is one problem, there is lots of lightning and rain. So the game has been delayed for about half an hour.

After all the lightning has passed the two teams come out onto the field to warm up. The Portage Warriors were not used to the wet ground, so there was a lot of complaining from their side of the field.

The kickoff by number 4 was a nice kick, the ball ended up at the 20 yard line. And now the game has began. Starting the game is the Warriors . The Beavers start off the game with a 3 and out and the Beavers punt the ball to the Warriors.

Now on the field is the Warriors offence and the Beavers defence. The first play by the Warriors is a up the middle run by #88 Garret Crawford. The next play called by D.J. was a,
I Tight 27 down O. There's a problem with this call, is the formation, the formation was supposed to be ace. The play starts #88 runs to the hole and sprints down the sideline for a 70 yard touchdown. For the extra point was Luke Wilson, but he missed it.

Later in the second half, the Beavers were moving down the field and fast. At the five yard line. It's an inside run, the running back pushes the pile to the goal line, and it is a touchdown. The Beavers kicker kicks the ball its up and it's good. The score now is 6-8 Beavers.

Finally late in the 4th quarter its getting exciting. D.J. just ran 30 yards on a 4th and 20. The next play #88 gets the ball and it looks like he’s going to go all the way, nobody in front of him, but he gets a helmet to the elbow and fumbles the ball with 2:17 left on the clock. Good thing the Warriors make a great 3rd down stop to force the Bevers to punt.

Warriors have the ball on second down now. The coach calls a twins hail mary but Caleb Drew to do a slant route over the middle.

The ball is snapped Dayton Tessmer snaps the ball to D.J., he his drops back, fires a bullet over the middle to Caleb, he makes the catch, does a great spin move and runs 20 yards to the endzone. Luke makes the kick this time. And the Warrior defense makes a great stop with 15 seconds left on the clock to win the game 14-8

  24. On Saturday October, 13th in Portage WI on Thompson Street there was a soccer going on. There as a 13 year old girl from the Portage team, from what you could see she was one of the best players in the team she knew what she was doing.

When the game starts the Portage girls are doing good they keep on getting it closer and closer to the other teams net, but when the other team gets the ball the Portage team just sits there and watches them dribble up the field.

The other team is pretty good they try really hard to get it in Portages goal. Then it’s half time Portage has none but the other team has 2 points, the girls on the field run over to grab their water bottles and then go over by the rest of their team and coaches to talk.

Then halftime is over the teams switch sides of the field and Portage starts with the ball. The one girl on the Portage team #17 she gets the ball and dribbles it through everyone on the other team and it’s only her and the goalie she can’t get a good shot on goal and messes up.

The other teams goalie gets the ball and punts it #17 is running back to her goal and gets the ball again, she dribbles up the side of the field but then one of her teammates gets in the way and takes the ball and #17 freaks out butt she walks away even though the girl who took the ball messes up so the other team gets it.

While this was happening the goalie for Portage went down because she was so cold and she had to be carried off the field. Our sub goalie went in goal and got scored on 4 more times. Portage lost to that team when the could have won. Their coach was not happy with the game and he just walked away.

After the teams high fived the Portage girls run to the middle of the field and clap their hands instead of running all the way over to the parents and high fiving them, the parents all stand up and clap. The Portage girls run back to their bench and grab their things and then they leave.

  25. On Friday, September 14, Joslyn and 3 others went on a “wild goose chase.” Joslyn is a 14 year old girl who loves to hunt, fish, and trap. She loves doing these things with her brother, Bo, and her dad. On Friday she went with Bo, Jordan (her brother’s friend), and Chase (her family’s friend).

They were on a field goose hunt on Jordan’s private land. It was right next to a bean field and a lake. Perfect for goose hunting because the geese slept on the lake and then flew over the field they were in to go eat in the bean field. Also the fields they were in between were perfect for geese to land in. The blind was right on the edge of two different crops on the field. On one side was an alfalfa field and the other was a corn field. The corn field was cut so they liked to eat out of that too. The blind they were in was a rectangular “box” without a top. It was covered with a sheet with grass on it.

The 3 boys helped Joslyn kill her first goose, on her first field goose hunt. When the birds flew over the blind, Jordan would say something like “pull up.” That’s how everyone knew when to stand up to shoot at the birds flying over or landing in the field. They had lots of decoys so the geese would land in the field they were in. In the blind that they were in, they had to crouch down so the birds didn’t see them from the top. Once Jordan said the word they stood up so quickly the birds didn’t have time to fly away.

Joslyn was very proud of herself. Even a week after she was still freaking out. She told everyone about it and posted it on social media. She wasn’t the only one who was proud of herself. Jordan, Chase, and Bo were too. Bo was really proud of his little sister getting her first goose. Chase was proud that she got one too and he was really happy to have been there to help her. And Jordan was excited that it was his land that Joslyn shot her first goose on. That goose hunt was one that Joslyn would never forget.

  27. Josh gosser came to portage to show us what basketball was like at the college and professional level. He showed the kids the fundamentals of dribbling and other easy stuff to do in basketball.

Gasser, who played his high school ball at Port Washington before going on to become the all-time leader in games played and started at UW, was never the all star recruit who had all the major colleges offering him scholarships. Instead, Gasser used an determinimed work ethic to get an offer from head coach Bo Ryan and the Badgers, then went on to become a major contributor for a team that made back-to-back Final Four appearance in his final two years in college basketball. He went on to play professionally but after his first year he got hurt.

Gasser said “I just let them know that I was in the same position they are in when I was in third grade, or fifth grade, or 10th grade. Going to these camps, never once did I imagine I would play basketball at Wisconsin,” Gasser said. “Never once did I imagine I would be in Final Fours and national championships or playing professionally. I was just a kid, just like them. It just so happened that I worked really hard at it and loved doing it and got to that point.”

  28. On a warm day a fortnite tournament was going on.There was one hundred players in the tournament. Two of many players would go on to win a lot of money, but it would not be for them it would be donated to a charity of their choice.
The tournament goes on for about six hours with little breaks in between to eat.The people in the tournament were fifty gamers, and fifty celebrities. Each person is matched up with a celebrity, and a gamer as a duo.It was at a building setup with lots of pc monitors, mouses, headsets, controllers, and consoles as well.
The purpose of it was to have fun,and play to try and get the money for their charity. All of the players got to eat wonderful food, and good drinks. After the break was over they went right back into the tournament. There could only be two winners in the event that was going on.
When it was at the end of the last game there was only three people left. There was one team and a solo. One of the players eliminated the last player and won the game.At the end of the tournament the people that won got awarded a trophy,to remember what they accomplished in the event.
