  1. Julie was on Twitter when a “new friend” appeared out of nowhere. He was nice to her by complimenting her. Julie and him talked for one year. Then, her” new friend” asked her to go to a park to talk. At the park Julie was kidnapped. Due to her social network she was kidnapped.
Social networks are groups of people who have something in common. It could go very wrong and make you lose friends. Numbers show 75% of teengers have a profile on social media. People cyber bully other people at times. Information shows 32% of teens have been cyberbullied. Bullys find it easier to cyberbully because they don’t see the peoples faces. Also, sexting is a problem on the internet. Sexting is sending inappropriate messages or sending pictures of private parts to do with sex. Hacking is bad on social media. It can manipulate elections by getting you to believe things that aren’t necessarily true about a candidate. Social network can destroy friendships as well. People need to be more careful on the internet.
People who use the internet need to make better decisions. Not talking to people who appear randomly on the internet. These people could be bad. Users should check for viruses that could be a link that puts a hacker onto a computer. The hackers can then go on social media and make you look bad. Block cyber bullies because they may make you feel bad. Social networks could hurt life but can help your life if you use them wisely.

  2. It all started when Nathan was waving a gun around in a bathroom. He was being irresponsible with gun by killing someone named Chloe. He did this because she said that she’ll tell everybody that he begs for drugs like a little girl and talks to himself. Nathan pointed a gun to Chloe. She told him that he’ll get in trouble and he said to not tell him what to do. Chloe tried to stop him from killing her and calling Nathan psycho but he killed her anyway.

This story suggests that there’s more than one need for gun control. Facts shows houses in the United States that have a gun is at 36%. The reasons these people own firearms is for: protection against crime 60%, hunting 36%, and recreation/ target shooting 21%. In the United States during 2016 there were about 16,459 murders. This is important to know because there needs to be less murders. In 1993 at least 0.5% households had members who used a gun for defense. Instead of using their gun they could call the police for help. Prison inmates reported having a firearm during commission of a crime for which they were put in jail. This makes them vulnerable to violent crime. We don’t want criminals to have access to guns. A U.S. Justice Department studied based on crime data from 1974 to 1985 found 83% of Americans will be the victim of an attempted or completed violent crime with guns. This is important to know because that’s a lot of people who have been affected by this. We need to make changes about the laws We need to have laws of Gun Control. Gun control laws are just as old or older than the Second Amendment. Guns were the leading cause of deathly homicide (66.6% of all homicides) and by suicide (52.2% of all suicides). During a argument between a husband and a wife a woman’s risk of being murdered increases 500% if agunis is present. More gun control laws would infringe upon the right to bear arms. Assault weapons bans didn’t significantly affect murder rates at the state level. The second Amendment of the U.S. give some advice they would give is “Awed regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state”.

  3. Suicide Prevention

Picture this, you or someone you care about is sitting in a room alone trying to find a way to stop the pain. This is a story about someone who needed a way out. “I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t suicidal. I did ridiculously dangerous things to find ways to die like crossing busy streets with my eyes closed, running along unfenced edges of channels of water, or walking in a dangerous area alone at night. At age 12 I took 30 tylenol and thought that would do it, but all it did was make me sick. I had many more attempts after that until my younger brother who I was close to commited suicide. I realized that when I attempted it, it affected everyone around me. So I seeked help and turned my life around.
You may be surprised to find that suicide is the 10th leading cause of death. It seems like it is far down the list for cause of deaths but, worldwide about 800,000 people die due to suicide. Each year 44,193 Americans die by suicide. Dr. John Campo from Ohio state said “For reasons we don’t understand some people reach such depths of despair and pain that they start to believe that they would be better off dead” Did you know that the US spends $51 billion yearly and 494,169 people go to the hospital due to self-harm. There are 121 suicides per day 49.8% of them use firearm, 26.8% suffocation, 15.4% poisoning, 7.8% other. There are ways to see if someone who you are close to is suicidal. They might talk about suicide a lot, looking for ways to do it, might focus on death, self-hatred, or saying goodbye. Those are all signs that might show if someone is suicidal.
Even tho there are many deaths caused by suicide “For reasons we don't understand” said Dr. John Campo. There are ways to help someone who is suicidal. Talk to that person let them know they are not alone, make sure you respond quickly to the crisis, offer help and support and let them know you will be there every step of the way, contact 1-(800)- 272-8255 or 911 to get the person help. Let them know suicide is not the way out.
Go out into the world look for signs of suicide in your love ones or ones you're close too, and get them help. Before it's too late.

  4. School Uniforms
Picture this, getting up every day putting on the same clothes everyday for school. School uniforms problem or not a problem? This story shows why we should wear school uniforms. “Girls in my school would tease each other if a girl wear pants instead of skirts. Kids should be able to express themselves in a non appropriate way. I think they would focus more if they were relaxed in their own clothes.” The big thing is why some schools wear school uniforms is because of bullying! 160,000 kids miss school everyday due to bullying, fear of attack or intimidation. That is a lot especially due to bullying. It will help when people say your poor and you look dumb with your clothes or your rich you get everything you want. Most people don’t understand what they are saying can hurt people. Most kids do get bullied because of there clothes. Parents can’t afford a lot of clothes because it’s a lot of money. They have what they have and it’s okay. You can’t bully someone if they are wearing the same clothes as you. That is why most schools do have school uniforms. Kids shouldn’t be afraid to go to school. They should feel confident. School uniforms brings success to students and teachers. School uniforms are like a badge of pride. Respectful and responsible. That brings success to schools. Also school uniforms cause less distraction. Most girls would say look at my new outfit and they would focus more on the outfit then the teacher. For the most part school uniforms isn’t a horrible choice. Everyone just wants to be in their clothes and be comfy. But here is the question. What good things do school uniforms bring to schools? It brings less distraction, they will help the school for kids to focus more on school. This a way where schools will have a higher test score, people will get done with their homework done. Another reason is less bullying. More kids would like to go to school if they weren’t getting picked on. We wouldn’t have kids missing school a lot. These are some good things on what school uniforms do! Do you want kids to get bullied? Do you want your kid to have a good education? School uniforms does bring success. What you see is what you believe. Would you see great success in students lives if we wear uniforms?

  5. On Sunday, August 20,2017 at 9:40am North Korea therentend to launch a missile at the United states. Americans were scared and they felt like making better missile defense and better technology.
After spending a lot more than $500 million, the navy is done working on the rail gun after a couple of years. They test fired the rail gun and it worked. They think that the railgun may not see combat in its current form. A rail gun can fire a up to 4,800 miles an hour and it can reach up to 100 miles away. Our military should keep working on the new technology so that we can defend against North Korea's missiles. The rail gun fires faster than regular navel canon and it is less bulkier. This is important because we can lose less soldiers.
North Korea is posing a threat because they are testing their missiles. The United states asked them to stop and they won’t stop. To stop the threats we need to make more technology that will help the United states defend against the threat and fight back.

  7. In Gunnarsholt Iceland, Jon Asgeir Jonsson is trying to help fight reforest Iceland. When vikings first came to Iceland they cut and burned all of the trees for fields. Because of this, Iceland has high emissions of greenhouse gases. Iceland’s emissions are also high because of transportation and and heavy industries like aluminum smelting.
Since the 1880’s, global temperatures have gone up*F. Also, land ice goes down 286 gigatons per year causing sea levels to rise 3.4 millimeters per year.
From warmer temperatures to more extreme weather, melting glaciers and rising sea levels. Humanity is fundamentally changing the planet by pumping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
The average temperature has increased by 2*C (35.6*F) since the industrial revolution. The last 115 years have been “The warmest period in the history of modern civilization.” Some scientists even say that 4*C (39.2*F) by the end of the century.
Dan Wuebbles says “The science speaks for itself.” Wuebbles is a climate scientist at the university of Illinois “It’s hard to counteract the basic observations and the truth of science.”
But hey, I’ve heard some pretty good things about Toyota Priuses.

  8. Racism in America

It all started when African Americans were discriminated by Whites. There is no way to define racism, because every individual has his or her opinion on the topic. But in the dictionary defines racism as, ”Treating someone differently or discriminating them because of their color, nationality, religion, or national or ethnic group.” But they should really define racism as, all cultures against all cultures.
Racism has been one of America’s worst problems and it has affected many people in many different ways. Racism can lead up to depression, low self-esteem, poor achievement in studies, violence, and many other things. Violence has been the worst outcome due to racism. Many people have died or been injured because of events that were due to racism.
Even though there are a lot of groups that try to keep America racism free. Such as, Center for Media Justice, African Americans’ Rights Organizations, and many more. But then there are also counter groups that support racism. Such as, The KKK, Neo-Nazis, White Supremacy groups, and more.
Some of the most influential African American leaders were, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, and more. Martin Luther King Jr. was influential because of his iconic “I Have A Dream” speech, which called for the end of racism and for civil and economic rights for all. Malcolm X was influential because he was a martyr for both race and religion purposes. Rosa Parks was influential because she was the first lady of the Civil Rights movement because she chose to not give up her seat on a bus to a white man.
Now you may ask, “What can we do to stop racism?” These are the steps we can take. We can support the anti-racism groups by donating resources that includes your time, money, knowledge, and many other things. We can also accept everyone, no matter what color, religion, nationality, or national or ethnic group they are and accept them for who they are.
