Amazon announced recently that it will be offering 30 minute drone delivery in some areas. Below you will find links to two different article options.
1. Choose one article and read it carefully. You may want to use Scrible to annotate the article so that you can stay focused during your online reading.
2. Find someone who also read the same article as you and discuss your confusion and thoughts on the article.
3. Complete the close reading questions. Please don't look at these before you get to this point. You can work on this together, but you each need to share a copy with me.
4. Reaction to the article. Post a comment on this blog with your reaction. Should Amazon deliver this service? Write a short argument similar to the cloning argument we wrote on Wednesday.
5. Reply to other students' comments.
Amazon drone delivery is clearly a horrible idea. To begin with, the weather will mess it up. If there is any strong precipitation, it will get off course. Don't even think to order off this thing if it's snowing or raining heavily out. Secondly, It only delivers to a 10 mile radius of Amazon. If you don't live near an Amazon, you can only wait for the truck to come. That's not fair! Finally, people may try to shoot down the drone for fun. You know there are people that do dumb things for fun. Don't think they won't mess up the drone while it's in flight. Obviously, these drone deliveries are a horrible idea.
ReplyDeletei think it's wrong because it can hurt some one or destroy something or it can go wrong and turn into a robot and even kill someone, it can be good because it can help amazon with money and us with it being there in under an hour.
ReplyDeleteAmazon Drone delivery is clearly a HORRIBLE idea, To begin with it will cost a TON of money to add the GPS and things like that. Secondly, the drones will get shot down! Not only people who hate technology will shoot them, but people who want WANT THOSE ITEMS!! Finally, I think it's a bad idea because it might not be able to make it through the bad weather. Obviously, these drone deliveries are a HORIBBLE IDEA!!
ReplyDeleteAmazon Drone delivery is clearly a great idea. To begin with, if people need an item quickly, then Droids will get it there. Secondly, it would be amazing to know that your item flew from the sky. Finally, once Amazon does the Drones, then every other compeny will want to. Obviously, these Drones are a great idea.
ReplyDeleteAmazon droid delivery is clearly a bad idea. To begin with, the drone could seriously injure you if it hits you. Secondly, the drone could easily be stolen or broken. Finally, the drone could be sent to the wrong location. Obviously, Amazon drone delivery is a very bad idea.
ReplyDeleteAmazon drone delivery is clearly a horrible idea. To begin with, the bad weather with wreck the drone mostly because the sensors will get wrecked unless there is light precipitation. Secondly, people who either want the package or just want to use it as a high tech clay pigeon. Finally, the drone only flies up to 10 kilometers and carries a 5 lb. max. Obviously, these drone deliveries are a horrible idea.

ReplyDeleteAmazon Drome is clearly a great idea. To begin with, that would be very cool to get it delievered in the sky. Secondly, it would only take 30 minutes. Finally, you don't have to leave your house it will come to your house. Obviously, these Drome delevries are great idea.

To begin with,FEDEx and UPS are a threat from this this because the deliver most of the packages for Amazon.Secondly,It can be stolen or shot by certan people.Finally,They could be sent to the wrong adress and they would not get their package. ReplyDeleteAmazon’s drone delivery is clearly a horrible idea. To begin with, people can shoot down drones and take the delivery for themselves. Secondly, the drones can get shortened and will fall and break the package. Finally, it can hurt someone if the route pre-planned by computers. They can’t see if there’s an obstacle in their way they might get hit or hit something, like a person or airplane. Obviously, these drone deliveries are a horrible idea.

DeleteI think the Amazon drone delivery is a good idea because it can save money so they do not haft to send things in the mail. Also when you live close to the warehouse of amazon you do none drone haft to wait a day all it will take is 30 minutes and you will have your thing you wanted to have. The last nice thing is that it can hold 5 pounds and that is a lot of weight for a little helicopter. That is what I think about the amazon drone
ReplyDeleteAmazon drone is clearly a great idea. To begin with, for the sake of the convienence for the customers it would be quicker than waiting day s for a delievry. Secondly, for the people who deliever the packages it's good that they don't have to go running around, but it could be bad because of pay grade. Finally, Amazon said that thet would have the drone go high enough where it could not get robbed or shot at. Obviously, these drone deliveries are a great idea.

Secondly if they sent it to the wrong address that would be bad.Finally, if the person wanted a PS3, (for example) it would still have the same type of shipment, so the customer wouldn't get their package as quickly as others. Obviously these drone deliveries are a horrible idea.

Secondly, people would be tempted to shoot down the drones and steal whatever is in the box. Finally, drones cannot function in severe weather conditions. Obviously these drone deliveries are a horrible idea.

ReplyDeleteAmazon Drone is a good idea but not a good idea at the same time. The good idea is it brings it to you in 30 min not 31 min or a week. I think it's a bad idea because it might not know where your house is and you'll never get it!
