November 18 and 19

Today we will be reading articles from the magazines in the classroom.  Choose an article that you like, read it, and then write a short summary of it.  You will post this summary on the blog. It would be a good idea to do this on a Google Doc first.   Then take some time to read other's comments and reply to at least two.

Your summary should look like this:

Article:  Ticket to Ride - Page 22
Summary:  Ticket to ride described three main private space explorations that are planned for the near future.  First, the Mars One program is getting ready to go to Mars.  They are getting money and volunteers right now to set up a colony on Mars. They will send a probe first, then a lander, and finally people.  They want to have people there by 2025.  They are going to pay for this by creating a reality TV show for us to watch on earth.  Second, the B612 Foundation is working to find asteroids.  This is run by two former astronauts, Rusty Schweickart and Ed Lu.  They are working on a plan to find and track asteroids that may do damage to earth.  Once they find them, they will alert NASA, and NASA would actually work on the solution. They want to just use donations and investments to do this.  They won't make any money.  Finally, the Golden Spike program is getting ready to send customers to the moon.  Most of these customers would be other countries that want to have a space program.  They will take care of all of the details, you just need to pay them about 1.5 billion dollars, and you will get a trip to the moon.  Mars One, B612 Foundation, and Golden Spike are three private businesses that are doing a job that only governments did before.

Article- Seven Killer Rut Tactics Page 46
Summary- The Article was about how to tips on how to get a buck/Doe while hunting with a bow or gun. It explained how to join the chase and get involved so you have a perfect shot for the deer. It said to get down off your tree stand if you are in one and hide behind a tree so they don’t see you. Be ready for the deer to come running by so have your gun or bow ready to go and accessible. It also explained how to hunt in the high wind. It said that you really need to get in the wind so the sent of the bait piles can be brought down stream so the buck’s can follow where it came from. It said that the doe’s are most likely around their beds in this time of year, so the buck’s are going to come by soon. Another thing it talked about was to make sure you are paying attention so that if that buck come by you can get a good shot. It also made clear to never move too fast because you could startle the deer and miss your shot. A third tip was try not to make so much noise when you are hunting because the animals will hear you. The deer have adapted to the environment so they can hear very good because they need to be alert for predators like humans. Since the doe’s are in rut the bucks are eager to find a doe, they won’t even notice you if you are there. In conclusion those are some of the ways to get involved with the deer and get a good chance of get that deer you have been hoping for.

Article: “How I Survived Ebola” - pg. 54-55
Summary: In "How I survived Ebola", it talks about a nurse (Amber Vinson), and how she got, recovered, and survived Ebola. First, it talks about how she got Ebola. She had the decision to treat a patient with Ebola, otherwise her co-worker would have to do it. She didn't want her co-worker getting sick so she took the patient. While treating the patient (Duncan), she claimed she had on all the equipment, and layers that she needed on to not have the Ebola get to her. Unfortunately, a few days later Duncan (her patient) died, and she found out that she had Ebola. Which she found this out after she had flow on a few planes, and was in public. But nobody from the planes got Ebola. Truly, this had to be devastating for her. Then, it explains how she got treated with Ebola. She was immediately taken to a hospital that day, and had to cancel plans for church and her own bridal shower. So, she was very sad about this, and the fact that she could die any day now. But the doctors and nurses gave her all the fluids that she needed to recover. Throughout this time, and as she kept getting better she was very isolated. That meant she could only text or facetime her family. Clearly, she went through rough, but survived. Last, it talked about how lucky and fortunate she was to survive Ebola. Soon she was healthy, and had enough fluids to be let out and go home. But, she couldn’t really do too much. Until a month or two later, she had her wedding. All in all, she got Ebola, was treated right, and is now living happily after all she has been through.

Article: The Bionic Arm - Page 68
    Summary:
In the article, The Bionic Arm it show’s that even with today’s most prosthetic limbs, people are still having troubles trying to basic tasks and motor skills with their hand, but a bionic arm made by Deka; the inventor Dean Kamen changed that. The bionic arm was nicknamed after the cybernetic hand in Star Wars and was given the name, “The Luke Arm”.
It allows amputees to rotate their wrist and open their hands at the same time. Along with unlocking doors and using chopsticks to eat. It happened to work so well that within ten minutes after putting it on, people are able to pick up things. It works exactly like the patient thinks with it’s sensors that track the motions of elbow, wrist, and hand.
Deka has not released it yet, or even put a price on it, but Hildreth, a man who lost his arm almost 30 years ago over a work accident, said he’d be the first one to but The Luke Arm after he’s been searching since 2008.

Article: Time To Cull The Herd
    Summary:
In the article there were many facts about how they benefited the earth and how they destroyed some of the earth. One thing in the article that was mentioned was how the black bears went from a pest to protected. In the 1970’s there were only about 50 black bears in new jersey, but by 2009 there were an estimated 3,500 black bears there. Many people of new jersey were worried about the bears getting into trash cans and harming their pets and sometimes their children. So in 2010 the wildlife management have killed nearly 1,350 black bears which is over 20% of the old population. Another thing that was mentioned was about how some animals were growing in number a little too fast. There are more animals such as deer, bear, racoon, wild pig, alligator, beavers and wild turkeys than there has ever been before.Something that continues to worry people are the diseases that these animals carry.Deer carry ticks that can have lyme disease, raccoons, beavers foxes and skunks. Those were some facts about what is going on all around in the ecosystem.

    Article:”Mister big” page 101
"This is the larger than a T-Rex!" A new dinosaur was discovered last year when a group of paleontologists went looking for this ancient cretaceous beast in Morocco, Africa. The group leader’s name was Nizar Ibrahim. This all started when a paleontologist named Ernst Stromer found bones to the beast during WWI. He found some parts to this mystery and sadly after that during WWI a German scientist found these and kept them secret in his lab. After that, in WWII they were destroyed in an air raid and the only things left were photos and notes.
After days of searching, Ibrahim was ready to give up. But suddenly, a group member found the bones and then brought Ibrahim to his findings. It was a miracle! Now these bones stay in a museum. This article is great and I recommend it highly.

    Article: A Spacesuit for Mars

Summary: A new suit for the mission to Mars is in demand! NASA’s current space suit, the EMU (Extravehicular Mobility Unit) is awkward as weighs 310 pounds, which needs to be inflated with gas in order to provide good pressure the body needs to survive. It needs 4.3 pounds per square inch! If it does not, the astronauts skin will begin to boil and vapors form from underneath the skin. The designer for the (possibly) new space suit is MIT engineer, Dava Newman. She has invented the BioSuit. NASA is currently not funding her idea and research development, but she hopes they will consider her idea for the Mission to Mars coming up in the near future. The BioSuit does not use high pressure gas, and it looks more like a leotard than a suit. The tights squeeze will keep the astronauts alive, mobile, and styling. It allows the astronauts to do more backbends with more comfort and ease. It is impossible to do in today’s EMU. If the BioSuit gets accidentally ripped, an Ace bandage will do the trick to fix it right up with no harm done to the astronaut. When an EMU gets ripped, the astronaut with have to race back to the spacecraft, but if they do not get there in time, they will die. The BioSuit helmet is much, much smaller than the EMU’s, but because it is so small, the astronauts will not be able to scratch their noses, but can turn their heads to look over their shoulders. The EMU’s helmet is more like a fish bowl, and provides little head movement for the astronaut. Once the helmet is locked into place, it will not move. The BioSuit gloves can move in all different directions, so working is much easier to do. The EMU’s gloves are capped with silicone rubber fingertips and hard to move their fingers. The undergarments for the EMU are long underwear that are protective and pressurized like a balloon. The BioSuit’s elastic undergirding is Spanx style and provides two-thirds of counter pressure to keep the astronaut living. It will not pop while investigating the Martian pebble. Obviously, NASA should definitely pick the BioSuit over the EMU for the Mission to Mars because, it offers way more protection and efficiency. It will not harm the astronauts and will make the Mission to Mars more successful.

    Article: Need He Say More?
    Magazine: Sports Illustrated

The article I read about was about pro basketball player Kawhi Leonard. This article was mainly about how the young 23 year old got to the pros and how tough for him was it. Kawhi had a lot obstacles in his way and one of his biggest ones were when his father died when Kawhi was 16 years of age. He is quiet young man that does not like interviews from the media. When he was in high school, he made a goal for himself that he would make it to the NBA and worked on that goal almost everyday. When Kawhi finished high school, he was accepted a scholarship to San Diego St. University, and he accepted it. One of his last conversations with his uncle before he went to college was when his uncle said “Enjoy yourself in college” and Kawhi responded back “Uncle, I’m only going for two years. Then I’m going pro.” That statement shocked Dennis, Kawai's uncle, it shocked him when he said it, but it shocked him even more when that statement became true. After Kawhi was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs that night, he immediately went to the Spur’s practice facility and worked on his mid-range game that night. Kawhi is a big success with Spurs right now and will be in the future. Kawhi had big obstacles but kept overcoming them and now he is in the NBA.

Notes: Kawai's obstacles to the NBA
    His goals in high school
Him being quiet about his success
Him choosing to only play two years in college

Caring for your child is a necessity, but to the Barbary Macaques it’s an instinct. Being an endangered species with only 6,000 remaining, it is important for them to protect their infants. Macaque Species range from Africa and Asia and are also the only other primate, besides humans, that are frequent in these nations. Being one of the oldest primates, they are now endangered and it is estimated that smugglers are taking some 300 infants for pet trade each year. This is because they are worth more when they are considered endangered or rare, and in this case they are extremely rare in these places. But where they are from is not what makes them interesting. Photographer Francisco Mingorance reported, saying “ The love with which they treat their young is almost human”. Macaques actually use infants to sustain a friendly relationship with other males, which can lead to an increase of the population. But when smugglers steal their infants, they can’t establish a relationship and the species can soon become extinct. These macaques are actually very relative to us. They care for their children, and the only time they can be dangerous is if they have fear of harm to their children. I believe they are an interesting species that we should take more time to learn about, because they are part of our history and future, too.

    Mary Lambert-page 38
Summary:Mary Lambert is about how Mary went from all shy and worried into a pop sensation from one song. First, when she was young she got a lot of hate for being “Obese” so she decided to write about it, instead of saying rude things back to kids she wrote songs about all the things that was happening in her childhood. When she was 15 she found out she had bipolar disorder and that made things even harder on her because she got bullied more and people were putting rude labels on her. Also, she would post the music she made on Youtube, so one day MackleMore and Ryan Lewis got in contact with her and they made a hit song called “Same Love”. After she went big with that song she decided she wanted to be a singer that helps kids spirits and encourages them to do good things. That’s when she made the song “Secrets”, it is about how you shouldn’t care if people know your secrets, and how if everyone knows your secrets it would be fine because they people shouldn't judge you for who you are. They can’t change that and neither can you. So now, Mary is a pop sensation and is an inspiration to many people.

    The paperless classroom is coming
    October 20,2014

I read the article the paperless classroom is coming, the article talked about kids getting electronics for school. I thought the first main point of the article was to tell people that schools will start to use electronics for class purposes. The article also stated that all American kids will have a device by 2017. Mr.G’s classroom tried the new electronics for their class for the first time they took a vote at the end of the year and everyone said they liked the electronics more than paper. The second main point was what parents thought. Most parents in the article didn't like the idea at all. .They made it clear that writing is very important skill to learn. Clearly, electronics will be the new device at schools but that doesn't mean that everyone will be happy about the idea.

Summary: The Heart of Comedy talked about things Robin Williams did in his life. One of things was, Robin went into drama school and his teacher told him that he was wasting his time trying to learn drama. But, he carried on and was an improvisor. He thought of things on the spot and what he was telling you was all you could focus on at the moment. People loved what he did, but no one dared to imitate it. He was on many shows and movies that people enjoy. Second of all, they talked about his death. No one really knows why Robin Williams took his own life. He had everything, fame, wealth, and a happy family. Everyone really loved him. But, he was so depressed that he couldn’t even watch some of his own shows. He couldn’t get over the depression. Article: Badgers Ball
Summary: If the Wisconsin Badgers want to return to the Final Four for a second straight year, there are three main keys to doing so. The offense, Frank Kaminsky, and a little bit of repeated history. First, Wisconsin’s offense will be a huge part to surviving in March. Last year the Badgers were fourth in the country in offensive efficiency, which is most in part to their Swing offense. The Swing offense allows players to play all the spots; spreading the defense out for more open shots. Obviously, the offense will be a huge factor this year. Next, Frank Kaminsky will need to work his magic and give opposing teams lots of trouble. The seven foot phenom scored 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in an Elite Eight win over Arizona. Also, what makes Kaminsky so great is his shooting ability from the outside. He had a 37% shooting percentage from three point land, while the versatile guard/forward Sam Dekker had a percentage of 32%. Not forgetting that Kaminsky is also a Preseason All American this year. Clearly, Frank needs to obtain his success to give the Badgers a shot. Last, there will need to be some repeated history for the Badgers to make a run. The Badgers are expected to be a number one seed this year, which would be even better than last year(two seed). However, in 1999 when the Badgers made the Final Four they were an eight seed. There is one thing you can count on, and that’s making the tournament. The Badgers have made the tournament each of the past 15 years, that"s one of the best streaks in the nation! All in all, some repeated history wouldn’t be so bad. To sum up, if these three keys can be accomplished the Badgers will be just fine this year.

Article- A Beach storming behemoth that leaves no trace,
Summary: A Beach Storming Behemoth that leaves no trace article has some main points about new better ways to get from shore to land. First some history why they might have created it the U.S. marines had to abandon their vehicle and cross tidal flaps on foot. Now they are using more adaptable landing craft air cushions. But the hover crafts could not carry much items, and they could not go over obstacles well. Since 2008 The (ONR) has been working with a ship designing company called navatek to build a much better beach stormer. Another detail is the one of a kind vehicle will be able to hold three U.S. Abrams tanks, in one beach stormer. Another point is that it is quite light, there are foamtreads that are air filled and it will have ground pressure and enable it to float. Some cool traits of the vehicle are that there is a lot of power in the vehicle it should be able to go up steep hills, and go up 12 foot seawalls and conquer any terrain. In conclusion having this beach stormer will help the military, and prevent disaster on the fields.

Are you wondering where all the deer have gone or if they seem to disappear I have your solution . So if you are ever wondering where the deer are, always remember that they are moving about. Bucks will lay with does for periods from 24-48 hours at a time and then they are off finding another doe and do the same thing with that doe. Scientist have figured out that bucks have lost pounds at the end of the rut. This is because the bucks are burning calories by chasing does and not stopping to eat so they lose pounds. For hunter thats not a very good thing because hunters usually what the most meat and if you have a 200 pound deer your following and you go out hunting and shoot that buck you

    Article: Lexus’s New Car - pg. 69
Summary: Lexus has changed many things to off of other cars to get the Lexus F-er. The first thing Lexus did was change the body. Lexus combined the front clip of the GS Sedan, the center section of the old IS C convertible, and the back end of the IS Sedan. They used adhesives, welding, and a very fancy technique called laser screw welding that allows greater rigidity. The GS as the front gives the engineers the extra track width they wanted for handling. The IS as the rear keeps the cars dimensions tidy. The IS middle section has stiffness and a shorter wheelbase. The second thing that Lexus did was change the mechanics. Lexus gave the Lexus F-er a V-8 engine. So the Lexus F-er has a lot of power. One thing you can do for more power is rev the engine. It takes some air and fuel, but the more revs the more power the car has. The third thing that lexus did was change the interior. Lexus put some new things into their Lexus F-er. One of them was a morphing LCD centereach. The inside also has a touch pad for navigation and stereo for around $2000. There is a back seat, but you have to go through the front doors. In the end Lexus changed a lot of things on old cars to make a great car.

My article is all about football how some things were left open on the offence of line. First of all, The gap was left open. There was a gap on the offence of line the gap let the defense to get to the quarterback the quarterback got sacked. Second of all, Pass protection is helpful. Pass protection is when the QB calls out a pass play and the HB and the line blocks the other team from getting the QB so the QB don’t get hurt thats why its not good to leave a gap because thats a better chance for less pass protection. All in all, its not healthy for your team if you leave gaps open on the offensive line.

    Silk Screws

Bones are usually fixed with metal screws and plates. Now engineers have designed a better alternative. The silk screw. The silk screw has many benefits. It only needs one surgery because it biodegrades. It also causes no irritation of the skin or bones. But this might not work on young kids. The silk screw can takes a lot of engineering. It can be made to biodegrade in mere minutes of several years. The silk screws and plates are very strong, but very malleable too. Clearly the silk screw and plates are a better alternatives than metal screws and plates.

    1. Why is it called the silk screw? Once it denigrates will it go into the bloodstream or something? There is no way for something to just disappear from you body. For example biodegradable stitches don't just sink into your skin. They Fall out. So is this what the Silk Screw do?

    Article: Alien Protection Plan

Summary: People have feared aliens ever since alien movies became popular, but nobody has really worried about protecting them from us. Humans are bringing life into space, trying to prevent it, because a few things can happen. To begin, without realising it humans are bringing life into space. Microorganisms, small enough we cannot see without special tools, can hitch rides on space vessels. As heating microbes can sometimes prevent them, heat resistant microbes rode Curiosity to Mars. Next, we try hard to prevent this. We heat certain parts of space vessels at a few hundred degrees fahrenheit, and put them in a room called a “Bioshield,” which helps keep microbes off. Lastly, bad things could happen if we don’t prevent this. Scientists think these microbes could kill off native species on other planets. They also think they could invade the planet and take over, or be re-discovered and studied like an actual alien, wasting our time. In conclusion, transporting creatures into space, preventing it, and things that can happen were all written about in “Alien Protection Plan.”

The guy that started this was named Lloyd Gomez. What makes him so unique is that he is a tatted up, man from the city. This isn't the typical fisher man that you would see out on a lake. Second of all, i wanted to know more about what this group actually does. They go around the world, introducing fishing to kids that are more likely to take up other bad hobbies such as drugs and alcohol. They have become so popular now that they have there own clothes line. Lastly, this has some big effects on the world. Kids are turning to fishing instead of drugs, and are actually going outside! This has also introduced a whole nother world hobbies. Clearly, It doesn't matter if your from a rural place, you can still enjoy fishing.

Kevin Durant had many things people didn’t know about him like he was homeless.
First, about his homeless. Kevin Durant was a MVP player, but the sad thing was, that most people didn’t even know was that he was homeless. A couple days after he got his MVP Award he said to his mom who helped him get money, food, and a job so he could get a home was,”You the real MVP.” He was inspiring to many people.
Second, how he recovered. He recovered because he didn’t have a home but his mom figured this out and made sure that he was like many other people in the world. So she made him live with her and helped him get started like find a job. Gave him some money so he could buy things and shared food. After he got a new home she was happy because he was one of many sports players who was homeless, and made through it, got a new home, and got another job.
As you can see, Kevin Durant was an athletic sports player who was homeless but got through it.

    Article:Mindsuckers-Page 36
Summary: Mindsuckers described many parasites that infect their hosts and change them drastically or “zombify” them. One parasite was a parasitic barnacle that infected a male sheep crab. The male crab was turned into a female. It stopped developng its fighting claws and its abdomen started to enlarge, providing a “whom” for the barnacle to lay its eggs in. Another is the Horsehair worm. The larvae get eaten by a house cricket when it eats dead insects, and they infect grow inside the cricket. Since the worm lives in water but the cricket does not, the worm alters the crickets brain and makes it drown itself in water. The worm comes out of the dead cricket, sometimes a foot in length, and lives its life. Last is a parasitic wasp called Dinocampus coccinellae. It is very small, only the size of an ice cream sprinkle. It lays its eggs inside a ladybug. When the female wasp is ready to lay an egg, she injects her stinger into a ladybugs underside, and injects the egg, along with many other chemicals. When the egg hatches, the larvae feeds on bodily fluids in the ladybug. After about three weeks, the larva leaves the ladybug through a chink in the ladybugs exoskeleton, getting ready to make a cacoon. You’d think the ladybug would leave, but it’ mind has been messed up and it stays. If something comes along that wants to eat the cacoon with the wasp inside, the ladybug attacks it, scaring the predator away. It becomes its body guard, defending it until it hatches. It dies soon after the wasp hatches and flies away.

Finally believe it or not, Frank Kaminsky was teased a lot growing up. He can barely remember having one friend in fourth grade, and another one in seventh grade. Summary: In 2009 Lady Gaga conquered Alexander McQueen’s impossible armadillo heels. They were no original stilettos but they twisted and pretzeled a woman’s foot into a 10-inch unhumanly hoof. The shoes cemented her reputation as pop’s let-alone freak. This generation is now more than ever into luxe sneakers, and the influence from Lady Gaga for very outgoing heels has been set back. The Brooklyn Museum is where you can find 400 years worth of high heels. Studies show that painful, uncomfortable heights to look “cool” has been a timeless tool to the social world. First blame the not very famous Venetian chopines of the 16th century. These platforms were massive shoes that measured up to 20 inches tall they were and were loved until ridicule pushed them out of favor.

    Singled Out - Page 28

Have you ever been singled out; Alex Jofriet has. When Alex became 10 he was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. He had to be put on a special diet and he couldn’t have milk, green vegetables, cheerios, meat, peanut butter, pretzels, fruit, etc. As he got older the symptoms got worse. He was using the same medication every other Crohn’s disease patient was but maybe that was the problem. He got put on a N of 1 trial which means n standing for number of patients is one. His trial was to drink one 8 ounce glass of milk for three days. This was a very important because he hasn’t had milk in years. Soon after the short trial they found a better medication for Alex and now he can have all of those foods with no symptoms. Normally doctors try N of 100 to N of 1000 trials but they are starting to try N of 1 trials. It works more effectively for the patient. However N of 1 trials is harder because it takes months to be able to allow a patient who isn’t in an emergency and isn't so sick they may die. It is also harder to get some medications because they are only experimenting so it isn’t always as safe. In the long run will N of 1 be better? Some people take a certain medication thinking that it is making it better but a certain patient took a medication for a long time and it made her symptoms worse but when she switched the less effective ( for most people ) medication it made her recover almost instantly. Doctors wouldn’t know that if they didn’t do the N of 1 trials. N of 1 trials are more personalized so it allows better results. Doctors think that eventually all hospitals will at least try N of 1 trials and see how effective it is.

When the Snows Fail described 2 main reason for why the drought in California is so bad and why its getting worse. One reason is that not that many rain is falling and farmers need rain. So they drill wells and take water from the ground. The groundwater reserves are almost gone so now there is less water than there was before.
Another reason that it is getting worse is that with the climate warming up there is less and less snow in the mountains and that means that there is less melting in the spring. There has also been many more fires than normal because of little water. Many lakes are more than 70% lower than the average amount. Lots of people think that the drought is going to get worse than it already is.

    Zombie Ladybug

-----Ladybugs have a dream life, but if a parasite takes it over that turns the ladybugs world upside down. Ladybugs have a special tool to warn other creatures to stay away. Its their red and black spotted shell. If a predator tries to eat the ladybug it will bleed poison in its mouth. The attacker will not like the taste and spit the ladybug out. The ladybug has tons of successful ways to keep predators away, but it does not always work. Once a female wasp injects their egg into the ladybug everything will change for the ladybug. After the egg hatches it will feed off the fluids in the ladybugs body. The ladybug is being devoured on the inside. Around three weeks later the wasp is ready to leave the inside of the ladybugs body. The wasp makes a cocoon on the bottom of the ladybug. This makes the ladybug mobile The ladybug protects the wasp from any predators by swatting its legs. About a week later the wasp leaves the ladybug for good. SOon the ladybug will die. Obviously the ladybug has a tough life.

There 2 main ways to get the edible meat out of your deer. First, you gut the deer. Gutting the deer allows you to move the deer easier and the body will not smell bad or get a sour flavor. Also, when gutting you have drain all the blood from the body or it will soak into the meat. After, all the gutting and draining you have to get then hang the deer by its hind legs and began removing to fur. Next, you will see muscle, 80% of that is edible. Then, you cut out the muscle and try to get it all. Finally, you will have to put the meat cuts into bags airtight or freezer paper. The main way to have good cuts are to do it your self.

Then in 2013 they were all found buried in the California Desert by a motorcyclists riding through the California Desert. He found a weathered skull not far from the families grave site. Title: Playing by the Rules In Michigan pg 57

There is a big talk on ending hunting for all of the animals. First of all, Wayne Pacelle is part of the HSUS thought that hunting wolves should be stopped because he says that they are way too fragile to hunt. After he gave his speech about saying that the wolves are too fragile to hunt many hunters stopped giving him money for his charity. HSUS put out a ballot to vote if people thought if they were too little or way too much, and they received $125.7 million to do this. They revenued more than Michigan Conversation Groups, which is the biggest conversation group. Pacelle is not just trying to stop hunting wolves but almost all of the hunting altogether. Prop G stopped what HSUS wanted to do by passing a voting by 70%. HSUS did a voting anyway ignoring Prop G to stop the hunting everywhere. Finally, after a long time of voting and fighting HSUS finally won and fortunately stopped the 2014 wolf hunting season in Michigan. The DNR said that since the HSUS didn’t get full permission of the wolves, and that the hunters can hunt the wolves in 2015.

    Summary:
If you want to hear about the classroom that goes all electronic then here is your article. First thing we should learn about is that are the parents liking this. The parent hate everything about this project; we've had parents that have stood up straight in meetings just to say that it is a bad thing that the teacher is wiping away at the mind of children that so desperately need paper and pencil skills. The other thing is that even President Obama said that he would like schools where every student to have one. What is this doing for us. This is making it so there is less trees being cut down to make paper. Also now all of their lab are using no paper. As you can see is that parents really hate that the teacher made lab with paper.

Summary: Aaron Rodgers is a very good QB. He plays for the Green Bay packers in the NFL.. He has made a very powerful statement that changed many things in many ways.. He was in a game with the Miami Dolphins and they were down 14-7 when Aaron told everybody to R-E-L-A-X. Many people are probably wondering why he did this. First of all, he had everything under control. He did it because he knew a play that would work for sure. It was the fake spike that he had seen while watching Hall of Fame QB Dan Marino. The packers did this stunning play because they needed a first down, and eventually a touchdown. The word R-E-L-A-X is a very powerful word and has a very powerful meaning. It means to be layed back and take a couple breathers. Aaron’s word R-E-L-A-X made the word of the day on many websites, news channels, and even magazines. The famous commentator Dan Patrick asked Aaron if he should say “Relax, Relax” at the line of scrimmage, instead of “Omaha, Omaha” like the lineman always say, Aaron laughed. The word R-E-L-A-X has affected people and their lives in many ways. Every Time somebody gets into a tough situation they just think of Aaron and what he told his offense when they were in a tough situation. Some people may even get a bumper sticker that says R-E-L-A-X. To sum it up, Aaron Rodgers is a very good QB, and his word R-E-L-A-X has changed many different situations in many ways.

    The Heart of Comedy

Robin Williams was a very successful man, so it is very hard to understand why he would commit suicide like he did. He started theatre in high school, and kept it up. He went to Juilliard, but ended up leaving. He continued his love for comedy at small comedy clubs, and the rest is history. He starred in T.V. shows and movies such as Laugh In, Happy Days, Mork and Mindy, and Popeye. Even though he had what some of us would call a perfect life, (fame, fortune, family, etc.) he still has person struggles. He became addicted to alcohol, and drugs. One insider said that one day in the studio, after a scene Robin had a look on his face of depression. On August 11th, 2014, Robin Williams hung himself. He was later found by his assistant, dead. Robin Williams will be remembered for his comedy, and loving personality, but also for his tragic death.

    Article: Over a Barrel

There are three main reasons about the Over A Barrel article. First, where The McGinnis Wood Products is located. The McGinnis Wood Product is located in Cuba. It is five miles from the largest rocking chair and just beyond a barbecue joint with bathrooms labeled as His’n and Her’n. You will see the The McGinnis Wood Products, when you see a field piled high with slices of oak wood. Another, thing about the article is how they started their business. This business started because people needed barrels out of wood to make different drink products. They traveled around the country saying they were gonna start the business. Then, it became a worldwide thing. They had to turn away lots of customers because of how much business they were getting. Next, is how their business slowed down. The Great Recession caused a shortage of oak and made business slow down. Also it made prices go from 100 dollars to 150 dollars. Even though people paid these prices, the business still was going down since the Great Recession and the rainy season last year, that caused them less picking days. In conclusion, Barrel sales are getting better and better everyday.

Article: It is as astonishing as it is sad to watch a ladybug turn into a zombie Pg. 41
    Summary:

Ladybugs, an insect with a red and black dome that humans find so cute, you would never guess that these tiny harmless bugs can turn into such mindless, possessed zombies just from a little wasp the size of a sprinkle. To start off i’m going to tell you how a ladybug can turn into such a monster. A female wasp called the Dinocampus coccinellae inserts her stinger into a ladybugs belly injecting an egg and other venoms into it. The ladybug continues on with its normal life, but as the larva grows it feels the need to protect it as if it’s their own child. When the larva is big enough it digs a hole out of the ladybug, even though the ladybug is free it still wants to protect the larva. The ladybug then acts as the larva’s shelter while the larva makes a cocoon underneath the lady bug. The ladybug fights off predators that come near. After a few weeks when the larva turns into a wasp it leaves the cocoon and immediately afterward ladybug dies. Next i’m going to talk about what happens to the wasp larva when the ladybug goes through this. After the larva hatches in the ladybug it feeds on the fluids in the ladybug and any digested food from the ladybug the larva receives most of the nutrients. When the larva gets big enough it wiggles out through the ladybug’s exoskeleton and builds a cocoon underneath the ladybug. When a few weeks pass the larva now a wasp claws its way out of the cocoon and flies away leaving the ladybug forever. As you can see these strange wasps are a predator and threat to the species of ladybugs, but if you see one leave it alone because these wasps keep the population of ladybugs under control.

Summary: My article is called Scorecard and it talks about a college football student being accused of sexual assault and how his case might be handled in court. There are plenty of things to know about Jameis Winston. First thing to learn about is,why do people want him to quit college? Jameis Winston was accused of sexual assault which has made people have so many debates on his case. People think that if he stays at the college it will make things even more confusing and frustrating on his case. They think that having him there would put his future at risk. Clearly, Jameis Winston shouldn’t stay at the college, but thats not all to know. Second thing to learn is, why do people think they handled his case wrong? The New york times and Fox reporters are arguing that the college has handled the case wrong and that Winston might not have committed as big a crime as they thought. The school decided to give him a little testimony so his case might be looked at differently in court. Obviously, there is a bunch to learn about Winston’s case.

The whole article was overall about the San Francisco Giants. The Beginning of the article was about the General Manager and Manager and how they are so close. In the article they said that Brian Sabean (the GM) and Bruce Bochy (the M) live in the same apartment building and that they hang out together a lot and how they mostly don’t talk about baseball but they mostly talk about other things going on in their life. The middle of the article was about Brian Sabean and his baseball career. The most important information I got out of this par is that Brian joined the Giants after the 1992 season and when he started he was the assistant General Manager. The rest of the article was about the 7th game of the world series. The thing they were talking about with the game was that they were not quite sure what pitcher they wanted so they decided that they are just going to pitch all of their pitchers a little.

ADHD is not that bad of a disability, but it’s increasing everyday. Everyone is different, but lots of children already have ADHD. Mostly kids that are teenagers have it, but the youngest and oldest ages for having ADHD is 4 to 17 and could possibly go on with them as an adult. Another thing, is that this of course has symptoms and there developing medicines for ADHD. The symptoms are poor driving skills and bad focus on learning. Article: Squall Game

    Summary:

In “Squall Game”, it talks about how to how to hunt the winter squirrels. First, it talks about what most hunters think about winter hunting. When it comes to hunting in the winter most hunters think about whitetails, possibly rooster pheasants, Canada geese or last minute mallards. But they don’t know is that winter is the best time for squirrel hunting. But the snow squirrels are not the easiest either. Second, it is best to hunt with the sun. Temperature below zero send the squirrels into a semi hibernation. But on the next day when the sun is shining after snow and clouds, the squirrels will be on the move. To find a squirrel when it is sunny during winter they can be found sunning on a tree branch. Third, watch the walnuts. If squirrels aren’t feeding themselves or sunning you will find them scourging for fallen nuts. Look for abundance of tracks to determine where squirrels have been foraging most often. Fourth, walk the maize. At farmland regions, an area where timber meets harvested corn can be a hot ticket, squirrels will target the wanted grains. Squirrels have great eyesight, when you hunt them in the winter wear snow camouflage and light weight binoculars. Fifth, reach with a rimfire. A .22 rimfire will put more bushytails in the bag. The slow-moving bullets can ricochet off the frozen dirt. For more of a challenge try a 32-caliber.

Summary- Ebola. You hear about it almost everyday. But most of the time, really all we hear about is how deadly it can be if not treated quickly. First, this article was talking about how a man named Thomas Eric Duncan was admitted to the Dallas, Texas hospital on September 29, 2014. Another thing this article was talking about is how this mans main nurse Nina Pham, thought she was safe in all her protective gear, even though she wasn’t. Nina Pham had caught the Ebola virus from her patient. Pham had 4 years of nursing school, knew barely anything about the virus, and it was beyond what she studied for in her classes. Nina’s patient died October 8th from the ebola virus, and basically “traded places” with Pham. Nina now lays in a Hospital bed and is the first american to contract the disease. Finally I found out that the other nurse that was helping treat Duncan also caught the Ebola virus. Pham and Amber Vinson (the other nurse) are fighting for their lives against a disease that has gone from horror, to real fear. Clearly Ebola is a deadly disease, but it’s even scarier when the suits you wear not to catch it, aren't even safe.

In previous months only one person asked for Jonas Gray’s autograph, but now everybody will. Jonas Gray, a running back for the New England Patriots, was never even heard of until Sunday. Jonas Gray played at Notre Dame , but wasn’t a quality player. He went undrafted and only two teams offered him a deal, but it was only to be on the practice squad, these teams were the Dolphins and the Ravens. The Patriots signed Gray due to an injury to their starting running back, Steven Ridley. On Sunday the Patriots played against the Colts and broke the Colts defence up with the running game. The Patriots won against the Colts 47-20 due to the play of Jonas Gray. He rushed for 199 yards and 4 touchdowns, suddenly the unknown running back was the breakout player in the NFL. Gray had only 138 yards coming into this game, he had more yards in the game than his career. His performance was better than the backfields of the Bill, Chargers, Raiders or Steelers through 11 week. Definitely more people will now ask for Jonas Gray’s autograph.

The first experiment was with milk. Alex had to drink 8 ounces of milk each day for three days like a normal person. The milk didn’t bother him at all. So now he can drink milk without getting stomach pains. The second experiment was to help easier breathing. A man named Guyatt changed the drugs and the diets to see of that would help patients to breath easier. They only did that experiment twice because it was not helping them. Infact it was making the patients worse. Now Alex Jofriet is fine and out of the hospital but he still has to get checkups every once in a while. More and more people are doing the N of 1 experiments. Clearly N of 1 has helped Alex Jofriet and patients all over.

    Poor athletes
    october 20,2014
The article I read about was all about poor athletes it was very interesting. It even told me that Kevin Durant was homeless as a kid growing up. It also told me how they managed to survived. A lot of them only got a snack from a vending machine or a couple chips for dinner each night. Some nights they didn’t get anything to eat. It also says that most of them had poor grades. Then it shows how sports helped them get through the rough times. It will also show how they either went to the college level or some even went all pro. This is what my article is about.

    The Heart of Comedy
    August 2014
The life of Robin Williams is a beloved dream that many people would like to have and I’m sure anybody can see that it made a big difference in the U.S. and in just plain old comedy. Robin Williams definitely had an amazing, interesting, and extremely busy life. Robin Williams lived from 1951-2014. Starting back in Robin’s past many say he was very shy and when he did tell jokes he was a little embarrassed by them but after a while he became in exceptional comedian. He performed in many videos and was on stage for a lot ao comedian talks. He was in several movies adult and young such as the genie in Aladdin or Patch in Patch Adams. Actually in all Robin Williams starred in about 100 shows and videos. As I said before Robin Williams affected many people and even comedy itself. When Robin Williams died of course it affected his family. Other than his family he had many friends. He had to have millions of fans and of course there is the people he worked with. Robin Williams also brought in this whole different comedy with all the voices and the emotion he put into it. It is definitely a great sorrow that we have lost such a amazing actor, comedian, and a friend to all. So next time you watch a movie think with Robin Williams in it think about all things he’s done in life and how he improved comedy.

In boston, there was a boat stored in a yard in Watertown and was 7 ½ miles away from a deserted Boston Marathon finish line. 100 offices were ordered to capture Dzhokhar Tsarneav and his brother, both suspects, in the Boston Marathon bombing. The bombing killed three, and injured hundreds of people. On April 19, in the the evening, police were told the right amount of information that leaded them into a northwestern suburb. While police surrounded the area, Murphy, who was 75 feet away, got a picture of Tsarnaev as he got out of the boat, where he was hiding, and put his hands up. Police thought that it was almost unreal. Tsarneav once executed a police officer. It took more than one hour to capture him.

The second stage, the limit out stage is basically like the first stage except that they feel that a hunt is complete if only the hunter gets his limit (the amount of a certain animal they can kill). The third (Trophy) and fourth (Sportsman) stages are completely alike, they go for the big game. All in all, the article completely explains all of the 4 stages of hunting.

    Steamy Solution to Citrus Sickness

Summary: In the article, Steamy Solution to Cirtrus Sickness, farms have recorded many orange and grapefruit trees have been dieing and are in need of a treatment. The reason the trees are dieing is because of a bug called the Asian Psyllid bug. These bugs are unnative and are dangerous to the trees. These bugs eat and spread bacteria that causes the trees to grow odd shaped fruit and sometimes die. That is bad because these trees are needed, for they provide 80% of the U.S.A.’s orange and grapefruit products. But since then, scientists have worked to find a treatment to protect the trees from furture damage. With great luck, they have finally found one. Today in farms they have now started using what is called the steam heat treatment. This treatment protects and vaccinates trees against the bugs.

Summary: Ladybugs are seen cute and cuddly to the human eye but are they really? Lady bugs seem defenceless but they actually have a good strategy for protecting themselves and hunting. Lady bugs are very smart hunters. To find food the they sends signals out to their pray to sence them. And when the Lady bugs pray is under attack it sends out signals as well. When it finds its prey... it attacks! Lady bugs usually eat aphids (plant lice),one can eat several thousand aphids in a lifetime. Ladybugs are also well protected under their red and black dome shells. When a predator tries to eat the ladybug, it spits nasty poison from its legs so the predator spits it out. As you can see the ladybug has its ways of hunting and protecting itself. But sadly there is a species of insect that is brutal to ladybug and that can takeover the ladybug completely and can turn them into their own zombies. Dinocampus Coccinellae is a type of wasp which are as small as a ice cream sprinkle. When the female wasp is ready to lay eggs she finds a ladybug, and with her stinger she injects the young in the ladybug. The ladybug is now its home. As the little wasp grows, it eats the inside of the ladybug for food. When the wasp is ready to leave the ladybug, it climbs out of the ladybugs shell and creates a cocune under the ladybug. Because the ladybug has nasty poison on its feet petitors will not eat the ladybug or the wasp that is living on it. After about a week the wasp comes out fully grown and the ladybug’s service to the wasp is complete. By now the ladybug is dead. Even though ladybugs can feed and defend themselves from some of their predators they sometimes fall victims of other predators without even knowing it.

    Summary:
Have you ever heard about how a Ladybug finds it prey, keeps itself safe? Well to find a victim it waves it antennae around to detect chemicals that the plants release. Once it finds one it turns off its sensory scan to search for molecules released by only aphids (aphids: a huge pack of small insects that are altogether.) Ladybugs red and black specks help them a lot, and are very protected by them. The black and red on them, even tho us humans find them quite adorable, they help a lot. Its a warning sign to other predators that tells them to stay away.I’ve never heard of a dinocampus coccinellae until I read this! It is a really small bug that is the size of a ice cream sprinkle!! When a female wasp is ready to lay her eggs she finds a ladybug (dinocampus coccinellae) and inserts her stinger, on the underside to inject the eggs. The larva grows up in the ladybug until its ready to get out and live on its own. In, conclusion reading this magazine was pretty cool!

First, the arm works by using electrodes. It uses electrodes on your skin to pick up signals from your brain and then send them them to the arm to move it.

Now, how the arm is helpful. The arm is helpful because it lets amputees do things they couldn't do before such as using chopsticks.
Clearly you can see the bionic arm is helpful and quite simple in how it works.

Platform sharing used to be simple. Like if you slathered a Toyota, you got the leather and fake wood, filled in every crevice with sound deadening, swapped out few body panels, and stuck Lexus based on the trunk or like GM skipping a step or two and going straight to upscale-badge part. Bit nobody operates so simply or crudely. Well most manufactures are filled with vehicle that share significant parts of well, their makeup. Some case one basic layout bagets many body styles plus size and being sold by several brands in different prices in marks all around the world, Its working as the largest global players are increasing the numbers of vehicles sired from common platforms. The advantages the carmakers is economies of scale not just in manufacturing. It also design engineering and regulatory compliance. For consumer, means smaller less-expensive car are built to higher standard if the platform is down more premium product. But all the winning carries its own hazard. Recalls ripple across more models and vehicles than the past, amplifying the fallout from quality problem. All of this follows 10 biggest-selling global platforms from 2015 and 2020. So you see platform sharing used to be simple.

There are lots of tactics to getting big bucks, but these are some of the best coming from guides that are experienced. One guide named Patrick Willis, from New York, has a tactic where he lays a bunch of hay and brush out in the middle of a field length wise. Then he go sit in his tree stand, so he can try to get the buck. If the buck enters on the other side of the field, he slowly gets down from his tree stand, crawls to the middle of the field and crawls along the edge of all the hay and brush. Then he slowly gets up and shoots the buck. If it enters on his side of the field, he just shoots it. Joe Gizdic, in Montana, finds out where the deer are, then he has someone else walk towards the buck when the wind is going at the buck. So that way the buck smells it, so it moves farther down, where the hunter will be to shoot it. One Guide named Steve Maxwell, from Wisconsin, does it the old fashioned way and just sits in a stand all day. Some people go inside at noon because usually, deer don’t come out at that time, but if the deer think it’s going to be a cold night, they come out early, making this strategy, pretty good if it’s going to be cold ou

  102. Phantom planets describes three main ideas on the solar system and dying planets. First Alexander Wolszczan uses the arecibo radio telescope to locate new planets. He finds dead or dying plants to analyze how they died. Second he looks for massive stars. He looks for massive stars to see if they will become pulsars. Pulsars are huge stars that grew. Pulsars could engulf and vaporize nearby planets. Third He investigates if our sun could become a pulsar and whether we should move to a different planet out of the suns explosion range. This is very important for the safety and survival of the human race.

Summary : Stop Taking Antibiotics when you feel better has 2 main topics. The first main topics is to stop taking the antibiotics when you feel better. Why you should stop taking them is because resistant bacteria can escape and infect another person. So basicly less is more and more is less. The second reason is antibiotic study on how shorter time of taking them is better. Antibiotic study has found out that shorter time periods of taking them is just as effective as long ones. Plus taking shorter time periods does not waste the antibiotics that you would have wasted if you took a longer time period.

In the artical Bigger than a T-rex? they talk about two main things. One of them is first finding the spinosaurus. -The first time they found the spinosaurus was in the time of world war one and the person who found it was Ernst Freiherr Stromer. When he found it right away he wanted to put it into a museum. But he put it in a museum where there was a lot of bombers so he wanted it moved away from bombers reach, but the owner of the museum disliked him so he said no and the whole thing was destroyed by a bomb. The second thing they talk about is finding the spinosaurus again. They found it again in March 2013 by Nizar Ibrahim. He found it when he found these bones with yellow streaks on them but when he took a closer look they had destruction damage, so he did some research and found about the spinosaurus and what happened to it so he when looking for the rest of the bones, and he found him in march 2013. When they found it first he put the bones together the best that he could, and then he got some people to build it but in a steel version because the bones were so damaged and put it into a museum. This is what it talks about in Bigger than a T-rex?

The Refined Equine is about the new Mustang Ecoboost that has some interesting facts along with some unique things. I’ll start with the facts how the test drive got less miles per gallon than the last V-6 they tested. This may sound like an opinion but its true this is the most sophisticated of all mustangs. Like I said before it getting less mpg, thats crazy because it’s a ecoboost but its true. Another fact is that the 4 cylinder ecoboost has 320 pound feet of torque when the V-6 has 280. These are some of the interesting unique things about the new Mustang this one isn’t very interesting but its unique. The rear seat of the Mustang is mounted lower than other Mustangs. This is the first turbocharged 4-cylinder engine in a mustang for almost 20 years. They also said the ride wasn’t intense but it was smooth and comfortable. The full article gives you all of the facts but I chose some of the more interesting things about it. I think Ford did a good job with this one and they will sell lots of these wonderful cars.

.223 rem v.s the 30/30 rem for deer talks about the bullets and what each of them do and what is recommended. First the energy, velocity, and drop per inch of each bullet when shot the same amount of yards. At 100 yards the amount of energy for the .223 was 998 the velocity was 2,737and the 30/30 was 1,449 and the velocity was 2,086. Out of all of the tests they did the .223 had a higher velocity but the 30/30 had higher energy. In drops per inch the 30/30 dropped more inches per feet then the .223. In the end in my opinion i think that the .223 is a better bullet then the 30/30.

Nizar Ibrahim’s passion was fossils so that’s why he went to the Kem Kem formations. Ibrahim loved fossils and so he collected them. When he went to the Kem Kem formations he found lots of fossils and remains. In all he found forty-five different fossils like dinosaurs, turtles, and fish. One unique fossil had a sport growing on its back supported by spines, it also had long jaws and big teeth so he named it spinosaurus (spine-o-sor-us). His find was put permanently on display in the Bavarian State Collection for Paleontology and Geology, central Munich.
The Bavarian State Collection for Paleontology and Geology doesn’t always listen. During WWII Ibrahim asked Baravarian State to take down his spinosaurus fossils so they wouldn’t get destroyed by bombs, but a Nazi didn’t let it be taken down. Later he found out that the spinosaurus got destroyed and all that was left were field notes and drawings.
