  1. “Graces ” is a short story by dracy liltebager that takes place in pulit island . What makes this setting and story unique is the fact she grow up on the native land then . The people that live on Venus are either working there, or they are the children of the men and women that work there. The short story focuses on a group of 9 year old students on the day that the sun is about to shine. One nine year old child, Margot, is different from the others because she was born on Earth and remembers the sun. Because the characters are so young, they are not able to understand each other's feelings. The author uses this to teach us lessons about empathy; when you are unable to feel empathy for one another, you end up hurting others.

In the events for the story, “Grace” the events shows how Grace stays true to herself. First, when she moves away from her land she felt like she was not being herself and loses her way of her culture. .When Brandon tries to kiss Grace, she, but tells him to stop and move his face away; she was trying to stay herself. But to clarify, the reader might be thinking they wouldn’t let that happen either. When she moves back to her home culture and then she felt happy because she was back home. This could be interpreted as creating a theme of dealing with moving away; however, it clearly created a theme of being yourself because she is not changing who she is.

In the story, “Grace” the character Grace learns how to stay true to herself. First, when Grace says stop when Brandon tries to kiss grace and then when Brandon says, “Jeez sore loser it was just a kiss” When Grace moves back she feels like she is who she is again.

Finally in the story, “Grace’ there is figurative language that shows how Grace stays true to herself. First, is symbol/repetitive is her home and her culture. She talks about her home land a lot and the land that she lives in. Another examples is, imagery. When Brandon shocked Grace by ‘trying to kiss her,’ Brandon said that it was not a kiss. This is imagery because the reader sees Brandon’s shock because she doesn’t give him a kiss.

Clearly, the theme of “Grace“ is being yourself. This is first seen when the author used plot events.. Grace moves away from her home land then she moved back to her home. Next, the theme was created when the author used character Grace is the main character she moves away from her home land then moves back then when she movies first then when she got into middle school and she almost got kissed. Finally, the author used figurative language to create the theme. Readers saw this when there fixture laughed home is her symbol of her home land. As a result, it is evident that the theme of “Grace is being yourself.

  2. “ Grace “ is a Short story by Darcie Little Badger that talks about a girl named Grace, and she is a native american; when she was little she learned from her tribe and now she has the culture of her tribe in her. Later the mother of grace decided to move to Paiute island. Which grace has no one to talk with, and no one who understands her culture and how she is, Because of this other people don't understand her and, she is, Grace has to identify herself and also be herself where no one knows her culture; The author uses this to teach us the lessons about being yourself.

Clearly, the theme of “ Grace “ is Being yourself and finding your identity. This is first seen when the author used Character actions, This is shown when Brandon tried kissing Grace but Grace declined, and this led up to Brandon not being Grace's friend anymore, it is also shown when Grace and Brandon are paired up for an English assignment. Next, the theme was created when the author used Events/Plot. This is shown when Brandon tried kissing Grace after the chess match, and when Brandon and Grace had to work together in English class Finally, the author used figurative language to create the theme. Readers saw this when Grace was trying to be herself, also while finding her identity. As a result, it is evident that the theme of “ Grace “ is Being yourself and identifying yourself.

Character Actions in “ Grace “ show that being yourself and finding your identity, Grace is the main character of this story. She is Lipan Apache and grew up in her tribe but then her mom decided to move. When she was in eighth grade she went to Paiute island and went to school.

She decided to attend chess club since she knew how to play, and she asks a kid named brandon to play but he declines, but then soon accepts, After this they played a match, After brandon won he tried kissing her but she didn't let him kiss her and brandon got mad and decided to cut there friendship, and grace didn't really change much when brandon decided not to be her friend anymore. ( I wonder why brandon decided to not be grace’s friend if she just didn't want a kiss )

After this incident a few weeks later the kiss, didn't really affect Grace much until Grace had to do a partner task in English class, a there was no one else except brandon, So the teacher decided to pair them up.They were working well together, Although Brandon got stuck on a question, Grace tried to help him but he declined the help, after this grace went up to the teacher and asked her if she could work by herself, but the teacher asked why and grace replied “ Brandon’s Ignoring me, and i don’t want a low grade because of him”, and so Ms. Welton ( The teacher ), Decided not to pair them up again and instead to put grace in a group of 3.

  3. Brandon is someone that Grace met in school in chess club.Brandon and Grace played a match that went on for a few weeks. and at the end of the match Brandon tried kissing Grace, but Grace didn't like it and pushed back, then Brandon got mad and Arthur showed this by saying “ Jesus. It was just a kiss on the cheek. Sore loser. “, Then when Grace said to Brandon to ask next time Brandon was still mad at Grace, and Brandon said to Grace Brandon saying “ Uh. Yeah there won’t be a next time. “, After this conflict that he had with grace. This is clear when Grace didn't really react to what brandon said when he didn't want to be her friend anymore

He didn't talk to Grace again. until they had to work together again in English class, And when brandon gets stuck on a question, Grace tries to help him but he declines the help, After this Grace goes up to there english teacher and asks her to separate her and brandon because she didn't want to get a low score because of brandon so they separated. At this moment, it certainly could be said the author created the theme of independence because Grace decided to work by herself. While this is a good pont, it fails to account for everything else that happened in the story. A a result, the theme is clearly being yourself while looking to find who you are
