  1. Part 1 A hard working family in California had put everything into having a successful business and family. When they finally moved into the building that their business is in they started raising a family and spent decades perfecting the house/building. But when they heard about a wildfire that was nearing their community they left for their safety. After it was safe to go back they returned to find out the entire building was total rubble. The mom said “it looked like a bomb went off or a war zone”. More than just their house was wrecked, almost the entire community was destroyed from fire damage.

In a interview with Malcolm North an expert, he said “for a long time we were mistaken about what was going on in our forest”. For example before Euro-american settlement in the 1800’s, fires burned 1.5 million acres of forest a year by itself. Wildfires are common in more places as well, so its normal. You may be surprised to know that more than 43 million people in American live in fire prone zones.

To make things worse in spots in California the air quality has gotten worse than some traditional smog spots in India and China. The air temperature has risen up 1-2 degrees since the beginning of the 20th century. As a result of that, forests may release more carbon then they usually do, which makes temperature increase and a higher chance of wildfires.

Scientists have long predicted more intense heat waves faster than anticipated. More heat waves equals a much higher chance of fires. After talking to Scott Stephens he told me “wildfires can also benefit a forest ecosystem”. When all the soil gets burned up it get the chance to regrow any already dead plants with new ones. But they can’t fix cities that have been burned down or communities.

The smoke is getting worse in places that fires have taken over. For example, in San Francisco breathing the air for 24 hours is equivalent to smoking 11 full cigarettes. The average air pollution in America is equivalent to smoking .4 cigarettes for 24 hours. The air quality is reaching tops of charts for “worlds worst”.

Some cities along the west coast have been badly impacted lately. Facilities in California have lost over $50 billion dollars worth of costly damage. More than 1,000 people are missing and almost 100 people are dead. President Donald Trump is giving substantial funds to California victims to help them get everything back together.

  2. Part 2 In a interview with Alice Hill she says “major wildfires can be caused because of a land issue. With so many homes near fire prone zones any bad air that goes around that can pollute the air. Pollution is bad because the bad air can cause climate change and heat waves that get into the forest and maybe start a wildfire.

Scientists say 80% of wildfires are caused by humans. They also say when big factories release out all the gases and bad air, it stays in the atmosphere. Then the sun’s warmth traps it all in and warms it up causing climate change.

Scientists also say and agree that 97% of global warming(climate change) is caused by humans. Examples of gases that humans have released into the atmosphere are carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. Those gases have hit unprecedented levels since the humans have started releasing gases 800,000 years ago.

And if we can’t stop wildfires, then we can live in the ocean, I heard there is a lot of land

  3. We've all played adventure games or imagined we were astronauts in space when we were kids. Well one man can make that game a reality. The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk is attempting to speed up the time in which Mars can become habitable.
How you may want to know, by detonating thermonuclear bombs at the poles where CO2 has been frozen to make cardon rocks. Musk believes that if these rocks were to be warmed, it would speed up the greenhouse effect to create the antiquite atmosphere for liquid water. Because if it can hold water, oxygen would be able to be produced.
As well as speeding up the greenhouse effect, he wants to terraform the surface, or change the way it looks. NASA says in a twitter post “Terraforming the inhabitable Martian environment into a place where astronauts could explore without is not possible using present-day technologies.’’ So the next time you imagine flying in space, hopefully it will be a while in the future.

  4. Concussion
In green bay the packers are ready to play, the packers start with the ball and the running backs starts to run and hits head to head with a player on the other team. Right after the play the running backs head is in pain. He was was immediately confused because of the concussion he got from the isadent.
Concussions are brain trauma from direct blunt force to your head. People think that concussions ar from sports and take their kids out thinking they will get injured. Most concussions are from sports but you may get them doing everyday things. The years 9~12 is when concussions are most dangerous because brain development.
Youth sports should be more cautious there brains are being developed. Ithink parents and coaches should pay more attention on sport injuries. Experts say you do not need to stay in a dark room, also you can use electronics but not for a long time. You may go to school but can not read small letters.
Do you think coaches and parents should pay more attention to sport injuries.

  5. A man and his dogs in California were woken up to a warning that a fire was heading right for them. One of the dogs alerts everything and woke up his owner. They had just enough time to escape, but when they came back there was nothing left. Chapman (the man) said “I’m just glad to be here. Glad to have my dogs, you can replace stuff but life is more important.” CNN’s Ryan Young, David Williams, and Jason Hanna were the reporters of this story.

Wildfires often occur in the wild, unpopular areas, but they can also happen anywhere. 90% of all wildfires are started by humans. For example, many people in the world go camping, but the campfires can start a fire. Humans forget about them or leave them unattended so long in a dry area just one spark could start a fire.

Lightning strikes the earth over 100,000 times a day. 10 to 20% of these lightning strikes can cause a fire. For example, a family could just be sleeping in a storm and the lightning could hit their house and set there house on fire and if it is in a really dry area it could start a wildfire.

Although, everytime there is a wildfire it destroys people’s lives, homes, and their personal belongings. Wildfires put more stress on the forest managers because every city around the forests are at risk. For example, in California one city had a fire and it started a wildfire every city around it was a risk. That is how many cities become burned down. President Donald Trump says he doesn’t believe its assertion that climate change will damage the U.S Climate Change is half of the causes of wildfires/natural disasters.

In an area in California around 25,000 houses were built in the last 10 years and in the same time 20,000 have burned down. Although, it might increase because there will be a devastating hit to the American Economy of a longer fire season. In some cases in the U.S we aren’t prepared. Kevin Heils said “Like anything, people should see in the 2016 fires what can happen when we are not prepared.

An average of 1.2 million acres of U.S woodland burn every year be careful with wildfires everyone.

  6. Nearly one year ago, Ken Parker Joined hundreds of other white nationalists in Charlottesville, Virginia. In the past 12 months his beliefs have changed from people he has met since a fight that led to a person’s death.

One neo nazi, James A. Fields Jr., was convicted of murder after driving his car into a “ unite the right rally on Aug. 12, 2017. In the alt right movement there were tons of protestors and white nationalists in washington. The protestors were yelling “You killed a Girl in charlottesville”.

The Nationalists were surrounded by protestors who were yelling insults, waving their middle fingers and chanting “shame”. Many of these white nationalists are being charged for many different crimes and put into jail. Some of them are going to rallys and many other events and are saying very racist things about others.

After what happened in charlottesville there were several people injured. One of these people Jeanne “Star” Peterson was hit by field’s car and she said that her life has been “a living nightmare” ever since she was hit by the car. Her right leg was shattered and she suffered from a broken spine.

Field’s lawyer said that he drove into the rally because he feared for his life. He was also “scared to death” from violence that he had seen earlier. After all of these events in charlottesville and washington some of the people were charged with different crimes. This is what racism is, what it can do and how it can affect people.

  7. Southern california is a very high place to have lots of fires even wildfires. All year long California has big climate change. Lots of people this year have gotten hurt or lost their houses. Most of the people rush to evacuation. There are 85 dead already and 3 missing. Every year the fires get bigger and bigger this year is the worst but last year wasn't as bad as the year before.

As someone who lives in California or Hawaii this is a hard topic they go throw a lot. Lots of people loss their homes, cars, personal belongings, and even sometimes their own life. When places have hotter and drier places they have more fires because they have no moisture to catch on to. We all need to help by when people don't know about a fire or wildfire and you do tell them. Help them get out safe. When people don't say anything that's when people die and they get hurt and loss things they do not want too.

When fires start they do not end till they hit something that is moist and that will stop it like a river or a sea. Fires start because of brush and trees being so dry. ¨If things never were dry we wouldn't have fires,¨ said Jessica Laine.
