Reading Class
The Mariner 9 and Viking 1&2 Missions to Mars laid the foundation for the Mars Rover Program. Both in the information they gave to us, and the inspiration they gave to Steven Squyres. But.... what were those missions like?
Let's take some time to learn about them by completing a bridge activity. It's a little different than the ones we've done before, so I will explain it in class.
When you're done, you will hand it in to me by sharing it. Then, you will answer one of the questions on the blog. It will be a reply to a comment (like we did with Rosa Parks). I will assign a question to you.
Bridge Activity
McKenzie, Lacey - Why was Mariner 9 Significant?
ReplyDeleteIt was important because they had made it find more stuff about mars
Deleteand they had. They found that there might've been water or lake or evevn oceans and they found some of the same things Jupiter
Mariner 9 was significant because out of all the other Mariners Mariner 9 got the closest, and launched without a problem.
DeleteJason, Hunter, Ashley - What did Mariner 9 find?
ReplyDeleteThey found out that there could of been water on Mars a long time ago, and also found a volcanic pile.
DeleteCole, Tim, Rachel - What did we learn from the other Mariner Missions?
ReplyDeleteThose Mariner Missions could only get 2000 miles away from the surface, but they still let us learn a lot. We mapped parts of Mars and also got a lot of pictures that people study today, still.
DeleteWell from the other mariner missions some went past venus and we got good picuters but then we got good picuters of mars too.
DeleteLogan, Kyla, Desmond - What was the purpose of the Viking 1 and Viking 2 missions?
ReplyDeleteTo find if there was evidence of life on mars.
DeleteGisselle, Nelson - Where were they made?
ReplyDeleteRiley, Eve, Colleen - How does the written account of the launch and landing compare with the video?
ReplyDeleteI believe that the websites are better and more educational because when I watch videos I feel like I'm not really all that focused. I like reading the text better.
DeleteDivya, Enrique - What did Viking 1 and 2 find?
ReplyDeleteViking 1 and 2 did not find any life in mars, but they did find evidence of ancient rivers and vast oceans.
DeleteJacob, Taylor, Jenna - How do you think Steve felt when he was looking at the images of Mars?
ReplyDeleteHe probably felt like the luckiest man alive, to succeed in this was such a huge accomplishment for him. When he saw those pictures, he was probably very happy, and he probably thanked all of the crew that helped him.
DeleteThat it took pictures of mars so we know if we can send people to Mars and they could live there.
