Space Shuttle Challenger

Space Shuttle Challenger Glog Activity

Reading Class

Follow the directions on the above activity.  There's a spot right under the title that says, "Click Here for Directions".  You really need to do that because the directions for this activity are sort of intense.  In fact, you may need to read them a time or two.  I will also explain it in class using the SmartBoard.

When you've completed the activity, I want you to comment on this post.  You comment can either be a reaction to what you learned, or one of the most interesting facts you learned while completing the Glog activity.  When you are done, you can reply to other students' comments.  Remember "cool" is not actually a reply :)

Your blog comment will be a part of your grade, so keep in mind what makes a good blog entry.  If you've forgotten, check out the pages on the left.  One of them is called "Blog Post Rubric".

  1. My reaction was really surprised because normally rockets are built not to explode. It was really sad also because the two kids that she owned would no longer have a mother and i don't really know what that feels like but i could imagine

  2. I think the most interesting part for me, was learning more about the astronauts themselves. Finding out more of their background and how they were chosen was cool! I think it was interesting how there were all different types of people on the spaceship. Like scientists, athletic people, and even a science teacher! I thought learning about the Challenger over all was Super Cool!!!!!!!

  4. I think it is really sad that this happened, but I also think it's cool that they watched the videos really closely to find out what happened to cause this.

  9. And that the reason it exploded is because it has been used so many times that it exploded and 74 seconds after it set off 7 people died a female school teacher,6 work men and 1 work women.

  10. My reaction: After looking at the videos a couple times I still couldn't believe that happened in the air. I feel so bad for the family and friends of those people. Also I learned that the challenger wasn't just called "Challenger" it was "STS-099 Challenger".

    1. Try a different browser? Or just use the direct link to the glog? It's been working for me all week. Let me know if it doesn't work, and I will try something different!

  17. I think the most interesting thing was that a scenice teacher got to go to outer space. The bad thing was that the space ship did not make it to outer space it did not go even a minute into the shy and then it blew up. Another bad thing was that her kids were watching there mom to outer space and then they saw there mom blow up also all of the schools at the time and all of the school kids where scared also

  18. I think it was because there were icicles hanging from the service structure that made it go BOOM! It was sad because the husband and the kids of the science teacher watched his wife and their mom go KA-BOOM.
