  1. In the book imprisoned they talked about the Americans having hate towards the Japanese. During this Japan was at war with France when they dropped a surprised bomb on pearl harbor.

  2. The main thing that stuck in my mind while reading "Imprisoned" was when Americans were threatening Japanese and even death threats. From what I understood, the Japanese knew about Pearl Harbor and had been planned. After the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, America declared war on the Japanese.

    1. The Japanese were reacting well and they still wanted to stay in America even when they were getting many death threats and rude comments being said to them just because they were either Japanese, or Japanese-Americans.

    2. I am suprised that the Japanese had such good spirit towards how they were being treated. The Americans tried to beat the Japanese spirit but it never worked.

  3. In the book Imprisoned, the book talked about how Japanese knew
about the bombing at Pearl Harbor before it happened. Also how they
were in war with France, but after the bombing, Americans declared war
    on Japanese.

    1. Who was at war with France? Was it Japan, or America?

  4. In imprisoned, The Americans are treating the Japanese-Americans badly with threats, and they are hurting them. The Americans also think that the Japanese Americans, were just spies and they were trying to get secret information about America, even though most of them actually came just to get away from Japan.

    1. I agree with this. They were just punishing the Japanese Americans for something that they wanted to leave.

    2. The Japanese Americans had never done any Espionage(spying) against the united states so i don't know why the US thought this.People even proved that the Japanese had never done any spying.

    3. Honesty why has nothing like this happened to the Americans after they have treated so many people badly.

  5. In the book they talked about how people said a lot of racist comments against the Japanese in front of them. And, they are punishing the Japanese for something they wanted to leave. I didn't think that that made very musch sense.

    1. I agree with that because it truly did not make sense when they were punishing them for something they wanted. Clearly the japanese were truly innocent and should not be punished for this.

  6. In the book "Imprisoned", the Japanese tried to get away from Japan because of what Japan was doing around Asia. The Americans hated that Japanese began living on American soil. Then Pearl Harbor was bombed, and the Americans began sending death threats to the Japanese. I was really impressed with the Japanese determination and how well they reacted to the death threats.

    1. Yes the Japanese determined. I think that Americans should not have been so harsh because, Japanese Americans felt as though they were american.

    2. Well to be honest the Americans have no reason to hate the Japanese especially because some of them helped the Americans in war.

  7. In the book "imprisoned' there are people saying after the bombing that basically the Japanese in america are a threat and should have a close eye on the Japanese. America declared war on Japan but it could cause more and more conflict.

  8. I feel like the Japanese are smart people who know what to do when they see opportunities and they came here thinking what a wonderful place to live and Americans did not think that way because they live here normally with all of the opportunity's . And what made me mad is when they came here and wanted jobs the Americans got mad about them taking jobs that they were not going to take anyway. What do you think about this ?

    ReplyDelete
  9. I really don't understand how the Americans just started hating the Japanese just because they came to the U.S.A. There where already Japanese Americans in this country anyway. Why was so many Americans racist towards the Japanese?

  10. "Imprisoned" Americans disobeyed their own laws, "Bill of right". It states in the bill of rights. Any person accused of committing a crime has the right to be told what crime he or she is being charged with, followed with they can have a fair public trial last but not least he or she at their trial has the right to have a assistance of a lawyer or a witness, help to testify. But none of these events happened to them, which is very unfair. So the government or the people who issued this broke the law, and till this day, they are not charged for it.

  11. Something that I don't understand is why the Japanese are fighting against their own people, and why the Japanese people are turning on each other. If they were both fighting for the right in america, they should not even be fighting in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Why did the Americans bring the Japanese Americans to Japan to fight the Japanese, wouldn't some of the Japanese Americans turn on the Americans to fight with their first race? Also, wouldn't some of the Americans shoot the Japanese Americans thinking they were the pure Japanese?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I don't think it was right for the Americans to make the Japanese- Americans translate and fight for the Americans.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I thought it was cool how the Japanese-Americans went into little caves and talked the Japanese into surrendering

    ReplyDelete

    1. I thought that was cool also. But at the same time it makes since because they thought were Japanese not american

  15. I don't understand why the americans are putting them in camps when they are citizens and are in the land of the free. I think that if Americans can live there so can Japanese. And plus what did they ever do to americans in the first place ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They were putting them in camps because they were at war with Japan and we didn't know if they were planning to attack from being inside the country.

    2. The Japanese people planned a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor which made the Americans anxious and declared war on the Japanese. In the book, it also said that someone has said that they shouldn't be ashamed of what had happened to them in the internment camps, but that the government should be ashamed because of what they had done. The government eventually were ashamed because they were forcing people to leave all the things they owned, even though they were in the land of the free.

  16. I dont think it was right for the americans to make the japanese americans fight the japanese because maybe when they were in japan they could have been close friends then fight each other years later. I thought it was brave for the unarmed soldiers to go into caves with many armed enemys but make them surrender.

    1. I don't think it was unfair because they chose to fight for America so they didn't make them fight they chose to fight.

    2. I don't think it was right for them to make the Japanese Americans to fight in the war for the Americans.

    3. The Japanese should not have had to fight if they did not want to fight for America. I think that it was not fair that the were forced to fight for America.

  17. It shocked me that they actually let the Japanese out of the imprison camps
and gave the $25 and a train ticket to get home. They basically had to start there lives over again but, at least they got a train ticket to get home, and that they got out of the imprison camps.

    1. When they were let go, they had practically nothing, so it was probably really hard to start over again.

      Delete
    2. I thought that was weird too. Like, they put them in the camps, but then they gave them things and set them free. It doesn't make sense.

      Delete
    3. I agree with Lydia why would they lock them up just to let them go they had to restart everything and try to get every thing back.

  18. I think that what the Americans had done to the Japanese and to the Japanese Americans was incredibly wrong because they forced them to leave everything behind and people were buying it for much less than they had bought if for. The fact that some people were tortured so much that they couldn't and wouldn't talk about the event.

    1. I agree this was not okay they should not have been treated like that all people are the same no matter what size shape and color they are.

      Delete
    2. I agree with this because it was really not nice to take their lives away put them on a train and take them to camps with nothing do they not see that people are people and should be treated the same and they were in " The land of the free " does that mean nothing to the Americans.

  19. The thing that shocked me was how much the American treated the Japanese when they came back from fighting for America. They wouldn't even cut that one guys hair! Like come on. He fought for us and you can't even cut his hair! What is wrong with people? Who cares what people look like. Just cut their hair. Also he was even in his suit. They totally saw that he just came back from the war. He put his life on the line for all the Americans and they can't even cut is hair.

    1. Ya, I don't think that it was fair how the Americans treated the Japanese

    2. I agree with this. I don't think it was right for them to tell him that they can't cut his hair. It's not fair.

    3. I totally agree with you Gabby, curse those guys who didn't cut the Japanese-American soldier's hair. That was really rude for those guys who did that.

    4. The Americas were just straight up rude. They didn't want anything good to happen to the Japanese people. But the Japanese people made everything better for themselves, without any help from the pesky Americans.

  20. Martin W.Sandler was against the Japanese being treated badly he did not like how they were treated he mostly talked about the bad stuff. Martin vary rarely talked about the good but when he did it went right back to the bad stuff and this surprised me i would have thought that he would talk about both good and bad.

    1. Yes, He never really talked about the American's POV

    2. I agree with him. If I wrote a book on this I would also be a little bias. I disagree a lot with what they did with the Japanese people.

  21. Yeah. I think that it was amazing that they didn't snap and started killing people. But after everything they did to them they still fought for their country.

  22. It shocked me that the Germans had used the Jewish people for chemical purpose, they had already put them in camps now they use chemicals and drugs for war on them also. That is just mean think about it they are already suffering so they make them suffer more. i am glad they had saved them from more tests.

  23. I am surprised that the Japanese kept fighting hard for America even when they treated them so poor. American's risked Japanese lives for because they didn't matter to them, but yet the Japanese kept fighting for America. They cared about their lives and would do anything to make them better. Life in America was supposed to be better than life in Japan, but that wasn't so true. But yet they kept fighting for America, which obviously shows true dedication.

    1. Also,America went against there own Bill of rights. The Japanese couldn't even defend themselves as well.

    2. I agree and clearly they were worthy of living there but they put them in camps and they still fought the war which really should make them accepted but even after they did after the war was done they still hung up sings that said no japs in stores which was really rude. And should never of happened in " the land of free "

      Delete
    3. Like William said, they went against the Bill Of Rights and nothing happened. That's horrible.

  24. In chapters 6 and 7, the Nesi proved their loyalty to the United States by fighting and interpreting. Some of those who interpreted played key roles in winning WWII. And the 100th battalion was amazing. It was also really cool how the 100th was trained at Fort McCoy. I don't understand why the U.S. questioned the Japanese Americans' loyalty.

    1. I agree and earlier in the book people proved how loyal the Japanese-Americans were to America.

      Delete
    2. I agree because they fought the war even though the Americans put them in camps and questioned their loyalty even though they proved themselves worthy

      Delete
  25. I agree and if it was not for the Japanese we would not have celery in america since they came up with it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Exactly, I think it's horrible how Americans treated the Japanese Americans. But it makes me upset how they let them go and gave them $25 bucks to go and make a living. But before that they probably had land or stores that is worth way more than $25.

  27. I think it is about time the government finally did something to help the Japanese Americans

    1. I agree, they had been super mean to the Japanese Americans and they had the 442nd help them so much. So it was only nice to know that they were freed

  28. I think that this book ended without showing the bad about the Japanese even though they were put in camps they still never showed what the Americans thought or what the Japanese did bad. They only showed that the japanese were good and innocent

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That's because the Japanese in America weren't doing anything bad. It wasn't their fault.

      Delete
    2. I really liked how they made the best out of everything. These camps were miserable and terrible, but they made everything better for themselves. They made artificial ponds all by hand. They weren't given any special things, they wanted a better life, and when they came to America, that was the opposite.
